Does anyone think the SR22 looks "strange"?

After all the fuss I got my hands on an SR22 and it is pretty nice. I know Wild Bill Hickok (Hickok45 on youtube) loves his.

A few people told me it looks "strange"; like S&W M+P's are falling off the shelves and Shields are a dime-a-dozen. In these days can you blame anyone for picking up whatever they can? It's a nice little gun and has a very nice action. I know a few people were picking them up when I got mine at 4S.

I am not really sure what makes it so "strange". It pumps lead downrange. Is it supposed to have flashing neon lights or something?

Pistol or rifle?

I think it looks fine

Off subject, but why the hell did they give two distinct guns the same name? I get it, it fits in the SR line, but still.

OP, your friends probably aren't a fan of the pink one you got. Using a rhinestone encrusted holster at the range isn't helping your case any, either. [laugh]

Yea that can get confusing. And one is the SR22 Rimfire Pistol, and the other is an SR-22 autoloading riflle so it isn't even consistent. Still, great 22 pistol...

No, I do not.

I like the look of mine and LOVE the feel. The grip right out of the box was amazing.

Pistol!

It had the longer grips installed when I bought it and it fits my hand like a glove. I guess I must know some more "gun snobs" [laugh]

I think it's a great little pistol. I have a 10/22 as well, but that is a long gun and well, it's not "strange" looking either, IMO. [smile]

No complaints about mine. I like it a lot. No issues with various ammo types i have tried and it's fun as hell. I give it 2 thumbs up.

Let me tell you I love love love mine. Especially because I can't get much 9mm lately. And have been fortunate to have .22 stacked in the safe. I couldn't imagine going to the range without the sr22. That's the first thing to get shot every trip, and the last. I love that little thing. L

Just picked one up yesterday from shooters outpost for $350. Threaded barrel too. Shot 50 rounds so far (couldn't shoot more as I was not at a proper range).

I got it because I need a pistol to practice with that won't break the bank on ammo costs. I like the feel and think it looks good. My only complaint (I knew this before buying it) was that the safety system is opposite of my 1911 and SR9c so using it to practice drawing and firing is not feasible. But I can use it to practice shooting so all is not lost.
And I can get a suppressor for it [devil2]

Reliable, Eats all ammo. Do not expect it to be accurate.

I took my SR22 to the Singletary plate shoot this morning. Considering it's the third time I shot it, I was hitting stuff at 75 ft. I had one slight feeding issue when I was chambering the first round, but I might have limp wristed it.

I have to say that the SR22 is very accurate atleast when i'm shooting it. so much better than my old walther p22. Loves federal and MINI Mags. Just cleaned it the last time i went to bobs in salisbury and used frog lube, wow .gun shoots like it's packed in butter.

Its generally smaller than a higher caliber Ruger or a Glock, so I especially like that they have the 2 grips. I put the big grip on when I shoot, but need to change it to the smaller grip for my wife and kids.

I tried my SR-22P on Sunday and put over 150 rounds of Thunderbolts through it to see how it would go. That went remarkably well except for a misfire which is when I noticed a mark in the bullet.

It turns out the next bullet in the magazine is getting scored prior to the chambered round being fired. Here's what I mean:

1) Load a magazine ensuring no rounds have marks in the bullet.
2) Chamber and fire the first round
3) Eject the magazine
4) Top round in the magazine (round #3) has a gouge on the bullet

note: Round #2 does get marked apparently because the first round is chambered manually. It didn't seem possible so I repeated it several times. It doesn't seem to effect operation but it doesn't seem good either.

Has anyone else seen this? I tried searching but couldn't find anything. Or, next time you're at the range, fire a round, pop your magazine out, inspect the top round, and let me know what you find.

Get rid of the thunderbolts. I shot them through mine and had a fun time cleaning the lead out of the barrel[rollseyes]. Mine shoots and thing though. It runs flawless on standard velocity.

No doubt the Thunderbolts are crap, but it's all I have. I couldn't believe how dirty the gun was after <200 rounds. I intend to stock up on copper CCI as they become available.

Until then, I'm trying to determine what's going on because I can't imagine what could be happening that affects a round in the magazine regardless of what type of ammo is used.

The front of the bolt is scraping it as it strips the top round.

Debating if I want to get rid of my SR22 and get a Mark III. I like them both and got to shoot them back to back today. The SR22 feels much better in my hands, love the grips and is perfect size. But the trigger on the MarkIII as well as accuracy is far better than the SR22, imo.

I located two different brands of 22lr and went to the range today. I put forty rounds through the SR22 checking the magazine every two or three shots. Not a single bullet was scratched. I didn't think to take the Thunderbolts with me to repeat the problem, but since I don't intend to ever use the Thunderbolts with the SR22, it's somewhat moot. I'll continue to keep an eye on this.

Ammo was Remington 22 golden bucket of bullets plated hollow points and Winchester copper plated game loads.

Golden bullets suck. But I know the SR22 is a garbage disposal so you should be okay. Ruger knows how to make a gun function on a variety of ammo.

People are subjective to the looks of firearms. I personally think the SR22 looks awesome. Some Sigs look strange to me along with the Walther PPK and PPQ. So ugly. I know they function well but I buy on aesthetics as well as functionality.
