I'm confused. While cleaning up some random stuff today, I found a plastic bag with two little metal gizmos in it. I had no idea what they were. When i took a closer look, I realized they said Smith Wesson on them. Some googling confirmed my hunch that they were keys to the S&W internal lock. Here's where it gets weird: I don't own any Smiths with the lock. I've had my M&P and 1911 for a while, so they must've come with the no-lock 442 I bought a couple months ago. Has this happened to anyone else?

The same thing happened to me! I bought a no-lock 642 about 4 months ago, and it had the damned keys (and a fired shell casing - for Maryland?).

When Smith finally wakes up and makes their whole lineup without the lock, I figure my keys without a lock will be a collectors item.

None of my M&Ps have the lock or came with a key.

ETA: I throw the fired cases in the correct reloading pile. [grin]
