It seems like they have settled into a predictable routine on this show. One sensible customer, one kinda nutty customer, and one crazy R&D project. Mix in a little shop tension, and call it a show. It's hard to see it lasting more than a season.
I liked the trucker in this week's show. His observation about having been a prepper his whole life without even knowing it was great. I think that describes a lot of people, and helps remove some of the nut factor. That, and the fact that he was prepping for fairly run of the mill disasters, and not a polar shift or alien invasion.
The retired lady cop wasn't really nutty either, but she can probably see it from where she is. I had to wonder how a retired cop, who appeared to be supporting an extended family, could afford to drop $250K on a bunker. My rule of thumb is that if someone is talking about prepping while sitting in view of a ceramic cat, then they may be a little crazy.
The tsunami ball was cool. I think he is overstating the number of lives it will save. First, you have to buy one, then you have to have enough warning to get inside before the wave hits.
