Looking to De-ban my Hungarian sa85m. I’m interested in installing a standard wood stock and pistol grip. It’s difficult to find exact fits online. Truth be told I’m an AR guy and just started buying Ak’s so this world is new to me.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to find a set? 4376204B-785C-4312-9329-AE35DFF751C6.png

I'm having trouble finding stocks for a couple of imported 7.62x39 rifles too. I'm going to watch this thread... Thanks for posting it!

Don’t tempt me!
Honestly, if you don't give a shit about the furniture you now have on it ...why not? While you are waiting to find a replacement.

We have some talented wood stock guys here who may be able to guide you. @mac1911 comes to mind.

Maybe even strip that color and put on a nice, luxurious red stain...

I just can’t bring myself to do it, it’s in pristine shape, it was an “unfired” gem from the previous owner. And knowing my self I’ll hack it up and not find a replacement for months

Look for Russian AKM funature - it will require some fitting but well worth it when you sre done. Have someone tack weld on a slant break and you are GTG.

I know exactly how you feel...

Anything that fits a standard stamped AKM pattern rifle will work. The stock and pistol grip will just go right on and the upper hand guard will just twist onto the gas tube however. The lower hand guard will not work without a little modification since the Hungarian front hand guard retainer is a little different. A little work with a dremel and you can get them to fit though.

If you are looking for a legitimate Hungarian stock, good luck. They are out there but they are rare and pretty expensive.

My KBI has the weird AMD65 short gas tube and gas system so actually debanning it was out of the question. I ended up putting polymer hand guards, an AK12 pistol grip and a JMAC adapter with a buffer tube and Magpul MOE stock. The barrel should be threaded under that muzzle nut. I'd get that taken care of, put a detent spring and pin in the front sight block and get a muzzle device. The AMD65 muzzle device is cheap and works really well for reducing recoil on mine.
