Filling rear rifle sight slot

So this might be straight forward but I have never done it before. I have a couple rifles with peep sights and I want to fill the rear dovetail where the rear sight used to be. I bought these http://www.midwayusa.com/product/383424/marbles-sight-slot-blank-3-8-dovetail-steel-blue my question is do I just tap them in with a brass punch? Does it matter right to left ? I understand some rifles might require a little fitting with a file.

I bought the same sight blanks from Brownells when I put peep sights on a model 92 and a model 94. I just tapped them in with a brass punch.
