First Black rifle...ACR or LWRC m6a3?

Why?

ARs are popular for a reason.

Well, that reason is primarily that the US Military decided to use the basic platform ~40 years ago and as a result, they've become a standard whether they're the best design or not. Further, and mostly because of the first reason, they've had a lot of development over the years.

The design had a lot going for it initially and still does in many ways but standards are a double edge sword. Standards tend to lower price and help the standard design at the expense of more radical advances.

Don't get me wrong, I like my AR a lot and I think direct impingement can be fine (though I think it's poorly implemented on many ARs) but I think newer designs have a lot to offer.

Well it's final, just went on my lunch break and picked up a coyote brown enhanced acr from zero hour. Now I just gotta save up a little for a nice eotech for it. I'll post up some pics tonight when I get home. Thanks everyone for your input even tho I went against the majority.

No, click the icon 3 from the left at the top of the quick reply box, either upload it to NES or link it in the second tab.

My concern with the newer designs is the amount of engineering that they've had. The AR has its warts, but with 50+ years of engineering, the better companies build ones that work and keep working. It is my impression that some of the newer designs don't have the bugs out yet.

It's true but in many cases, the other guns benefit from the advancements made with the AR and other guns, like in metallurgy. And it's not like these newer designs are doing anything that is that much of a radical leap. The SCAR, ACR, XCR and others are all just variations of many other guns that preceded them. They're all gas piston designs and those have been around for a long time. The bolts, trigger groups and op rods don't strike me as anything hugely advanced either. In the grand scheme of mechanical devices, they're all pretty simple.

I feel the same way, its not like they invented a whole new concept or anything. The newer weapons work on the same principles but move the controls to more logical places. They are like modernized AK/AR hybrids.

Did they throw in a post-ban mag with your purchase [rolleyes]
Its a 30rd pmag that has a block installed under the spring to make it 10rds. Needless to say its crazy easy to switch it over to 30 if i wanted to. They did however throw in a Blackhawk sportster soft case with it though.

The bottom was glued shut. I steamed it to loosen the glue to make the bottom removable. I will promptly re-glue it and use a plastic welder and make it permanent to make glide happy

No need to explain. It's worst than confession.

p.s. great rifle. Love the ACR.

It doesn't impact me one way or the other. It's just not something I would be advertising on a public forum due to the associated consequences. YMMV.

It's really more annoying that the shop would knowingly do that to a paying customer.

If it has no impact on you, why post? Why bring attention to it?

hmmmmm....I saw 100 round drum mags somewhere this weekend.....maybe buying one and posting a picture of it on one of my AR's would draw attention away from this thread [grin]

Did you read what you quoted? The issue is twofold. The first being it is openly displayed. The second is the fact that the shop even offers that 'service' to unsuspecting buyers.

If it prevents someone else from making the same mistake, it's worth posting about IMO.

So send him a PM, no need to help the other side.
