Well I just got back from Four Seasons after purchasing a 10/22. Only problem was it was “delayed”, I have to assume this is due to it being my first firearm purchase. So once it gets the green light I will head back down and pick it up.

I thought this would be a good purchase to hopefully get my daughter involved in firearms and I can plink with it.

I did have a chance to meet Carl and he was very nice and polite. He seems to be a very even keeled man in a very busy sea. I was able to cruise most of the shop in my wheelchair with no issues and could get to anything I would have wanted to look at. Busy place though.

It is more likely due to your name or ssn being similar or identical to that of a prohibitted person. It will probably happen again. Look into getting a NICS PIN to avoid this in the future.

Nice choice of gun.

The delay has nothing to do with your purchas, but your identity. If it happens again, probably a good idea to get the ncis pin done

I got delayed for my first FFL purchase. I have a very, very common name. Twice since then I used my SSN and once again without my SSN and no delays. Of course no problems with FTF/FA10.
Ive been more active purchasing guns than I though I would. Only got my LTC just before the new year and the safe is full.

Our initial purchase "delays" will now by counted by the anti's as a "prevented purchase" by a felon.

Anyway......you will love this plinker...solid and accurate...I used mine in the 80's at my father-in-laws farm in NY wher they seemed to be a ga-zillion woodchucks...with a scope and the hyper velocity rounds I actually picked on off standing at 75 yards....couldn't do that again..I also shot from the prone position....but I still have the 10-22.....in great shape.....this is a lifetime firearm and is the best way to start out young children.

Enjoy.....only problem will be finding ammo....I'm willing to bet that around December ammo availabilty will be back to normal.....maybe a bit more expensive.

ASP,

I did get a PIN number assigned to me when I went andpicked up the LTC but I was not asked for it at the shop though. I am not sureif that was due to where I was sitting in my chair in relations to where thefinger scanner thing was though (it was on the other side of the shop from me).I only mention the finger scanner since I did see someone have to use it while I was there. I am not sure if they can your finger on every purchase or really how it works at this time.

I alsopicked up some glasses for my daughter and another magazine for it. I ended upwith the Black Synthetic model which looks very nice, feels light so I thinkshe will be able to learn good mussel control and technic with this gun.

Congrats on your first purchase - can't go wrong with a 10/22. And FS is a great place for the first gun - got my first there as well.

Like others above - probably just an issue with confirming your identity - I would concur with getting a pin

It will be a different PIN for NICS. The one you have already is for MA. NICS is a Federal check. They take a print to confirm identity for MA, but some towns only issue a PIN, some issue both PIN and print. Does your noggin hurt yet? Welcome to MA gun laws...

It will definitely be a great learning tool.

Great choice on the 10/22, everyone should have at least one :)
+1 on getting your daughter involved in the shooting as well.

Ahhh, gotcha. Thank you very much for the information.

Thanks everyone for the information.

I think we may be having someone do a Mass Gun Law type class over at our club within the next few months. I believe (but could be wrong) that is a gentleman from this forum. I hope I can make it but have a feeling it may make my head explode.

One more thing.

I do not want to turn this into a good – bad thread about Four Seasons since I have been on this rock long enough to know even the best business has some unsatisfied customers (for whatever reason) and some flat out loyal customers.

In the thread that is now closed about the customer service at Four Seasons, I had asked about wheelchair access at their business since I had planned on going in there today (my post was sometime last week). Somehow Carl heard about this and when I entered the store he came up and introduced himself and addressed me by name. Now being one who cannot remember names to save my life, I thought that was just flat out very nice and I was impressed he remembered my name even though we had not met.

Now I will not say I will always get everything firearm related there since it is a drive for me but the first impression was a great one so thanks again to Carl for the warm welcome.

Congrats. I was next to you in line while you were doing the paperwork. Black jacket Ford hat.

Well I just picked up the rifle. Now my only problem is that the range is so deep in snow I do not think the ol wheelchair will make it through. I will have to wait until my daughter gets home to see if she wants to go and help the old man out.

If you ever need some company as a fellow shooter I would be more then happy to accompany you. If I need to bring a shovel so be it! LOL

Thank you for the kind offer pacman, one day we will have to work something out.

Even though I complain about the snow, what is even going to be worse over there is when it melts. Then I will be pushing through thick deep mud. It would be great if there was some blacktop in front of the range sections but I am sure that would cost the club a lot of money to do, and I will not ask to have it done since I am sure club money could be used for better stuff.

Honestly I don't think it would hurt to ask the club at a meeting. You would be surprised at how much support you can get for an idea once you throw it out there to membership. Remember your just as important to the club as any other member and speaking up is a good thing because the club needs to hear what will help improve the club for all members, old and new.

Well I have looked at those nice little Action Trackchair's, but that would only set me back around 10,000 bucks [grin]. But money is not there for that type of equipment.

I may talk in passing to the VP of the club since he has been very helpful to me since I have joined (actually everyone at the club has been very good from those I have meet).

No shooting with the daughter today, by the time we get over there and set up it would be too late. May try for Sunday with her and tomorrow with another club member.

Well I was able to make it to the range today for the first firing of the 10/22. I have to say that is one fun rifle. I mainly shot at 25 yards but then took 30 shots out to 50 yards. Attached are my 50 yard shots using the sights that came with the rifle. It not the best of pictures since I took it with my phone.
