First Sig took away the 2nd mag...

It's so simple guys & gals...if you're having problems/QC issues with Sigs & H&K's, you can always upgrade to Glock ;)

Why do you guys like SIGs so much?

Every one I've ever handled feels like a 2x4/brick. I'd MUCH rather have a CZ 75 or a Beretta PX4.

They're very reliable, very accurate and very comfortable. The CZ is nice and I'll get one at some point, but not before a Sig 220. The Beretta was crap, IMO.

Picked up a P229 this week as well - with a plastic guide rod. For the few rounds I've put through it (see woes below) no problem hitting the black at 25yds. Was planning on a 226, but liked the 229 better. Love how it shoots.

My woe is with the .22 conversion I picked up at the same time. Slide must have some quality/tolerance issues, the top of the hammer is a tight friction fit with the bottom of the .22 slide - and it isn't even close to the slide returning under recoil spring power. Sorry, but lousy quality and final inspection. No way this was tested on a real gun.

Got hold of customer service after 5 min hold - and they requested I send frame and 22 slide back to Exeter - by next-day-air UPS - they sent me the label. I did offer to drop it off myself but "we don't do that anymore" - I was offering to save them shipping costs. Oh well.

Now I'm without my brand new P229 for a week or more. [crying]

On top of it, I bought it on the very day they started shipping 2 mags, of course I only got one - I guess I need to work on that Karma.

next day air to exeter... did they send a helicopter? [laugh]

hopefully you get it back soon--i just got a sig, too but i went dedicated .22 and got a mosquito... which i had to take right back to the shop to get it fixed up because it was jamming and having FTE issues.

FWIW: i only got one mag as well.

So is my M&P9. But it is made and designed in the US and costs 1/3 less. So it can't possibly be as good or better.

My M&9 sucked. It wasn't nearly as accurate or reliable as my 229. I've also shot both MA and free state M&Ps and the triggers weren't nearly as good.

Really though, what is your point? If you don't like Sigs, start another thread about it.

Well, considering most of the people from the board are from MA, Sigs are a lot easier to get here than the other two you mentioned, although I've passed up a few CZ75s in my time. The one thing I don't like about the CZ75 is there is no decocker, so you either have to thumb the hammer down or carry it in C1.

I agree that sigs are not for everyone.... but I've grown to like mine, and a P228 fits in my hands very well. I've also never used a DA/SA handgun that has a better trigger, either... but that's kind of unfair, as most of the P series sigs out there do not have a trigger that is as good as the ones on my P228s. I guess I got lucky. A lot of the P series guns I run into in the wild have varying SA triggers. I wish they were all like the SA trigger on my Sig X5.

Something strange. I picked up a new 229 today and it came with two mags and a steel guide rod(I used a magnet to check). The carry case has a sticker of May 6, 2009. Go figure.[thinking]

I've yet to find a pistol that's perfect for me in it's standard, factory configuration. The only thing close was a Walther P99c-AS that I used to own.

Do what I did, buy an expensive Sig and make it a REALLY expensive by modifying it.[smile]

Sig 229 9mm + Bedair solid stainless guide rod + TruGlo TFO sights + Sig short trigger + GrayGuns Comprehensive Reduced Reset Duty trigger job + Sig Crimson Trace grips + Cummings Custom Refinishing CERA-HIDE ceramic coating applied to the entire gun & 2 mags + 6 pre-ban Sig mags = my favorite handgun.[wink] It also = about $1900 - $2000[crying]

I'd put it up against just about anything for reliability and accuracy. The trigger is great, worth every penny, and I can't recommend Bruce Gray enough.

I'll end up taking a bath on it if I ever sell it, though. It's a keeper, just on principle alone.........

Ditto... I just picked up a new 229 as well - 2 mags and steel guide rod. Must've been 'older' inventory... sticker on case says April 5, 2008. Didn't realize the date on the case until I got home. I was a bit surprised it was a 1+ year old gun and wasn't sure if they made changes between then and now... After reading a few threads about the plastic guide rods and 1 mag, guess I got lucky.

I had the same problem for the first 150 rounds I shot. I solved the problem by shooting 250 more rounds. I was hoping my problem was a break-in problem, and it seems that it was. After 400 rounds, the gun would feed any high velocity ammo that I loaded, including cheap Winchester Super-X stuff and Federal bulk pack (and Remington golden HP's, those 3 were the 3 brands that I had).

You are right though. When I first used it, the slide/hammer friction was so obvious that I could feel the slide start and stop after I fired.

just picked up my new sig 229 ...date is may of 2009 and only one mag ....i have shot my buddys 229 and loved it ...when i went to buy my first gun i went with a M&P 40 and compared to the sig i shot much better with the Sig ...only downfall is i cant get the Platinum Elite 229 such a nice looking gun
