Hey guys, I found a few vests in my grandfathers basement that appear to be military issue. I was wondering what these vests might be worth and if any of you could identify them and tell me anything about them...

I will take pictures when I get home tonight and post this evening. Any information you could give me would be helpful and much appreciated.

I actually was able to identify them as late 60's Vietnam era flak vests. I've seen them priced anywhere from 50-400 dollars. The highest range is probably someone who thinks they have something that they don't. These vests were made of layers of ballistic nylon and weren't very effective at stopping anything beyond small metal fragments and shrapnel.

We were still wearing those stupid things in the late 90's. They definitely won't stop a bullet (at least not a rifle bullet,) so I doubt they're worth a whole lot to anyone who would actually use one. A collector might want one for a display or something but they're not exactly rare.
