(CNN)In his 23 years with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Dan O'Kelly was one of the agency's top gun experts.

He served for five years as the lead firearms technology instructor at the ATF National Academy, where he co-wrote the curriculum for incoming agents.

These days, however, O'Kelly is using his formidable firearms expertise and institutional knowledge of the ATF to take aim at his former employer.

Yeah, and you had me reading very carefully, LOL, to make sure I wasn't misinterpreting. [smile] O'Kelly may or may not be a 2A friend on purpose, but he has destroyed the prosecution in several firearms cases against citizens.
I re-read it again too and I’m still not sure he isn’t just trying to prompt stricter legislation by honestly testifying on the behalf of these companies and individuals, hoping this will spur a change in the laws to remove “loopholes”. It is a CNN article after all. I hope I’m wrong, and am glad about the immediate results but not sure his end game is pro 2A.

When was the last time that happened?
Which, open carry or an arrest for open carry?

I can’t say in my 42 years in MA that I ever recall seeing anyone open carry. Or maybe I just wasn’t paying attention.

Open carry is so commonplace here in NC that I’m shocked when I don’t see someone carrying.

I have actually seen someone in MA open carrying who otherwise didn't appear to be a cop or armed security. It was a couple years ago in 5 Guys in Westford, some guy in khakis open carrying like it was no big deal. No one freaked out.

He's probably an honest anti. He won't lie in court to dance around ATF and the brilliant gun control act retardeness, although I suspect his proposal would make most of us not exactly thrilled.

Despite all these spooky ghost guns or whatever the f*** they are calling it the murder rate in the US is at an all time low.

Few years ago some MA LEO posted a picture on FB of a handout he'd received at his inservice. It specifically instructed him, if called to investigate a man with a gun situation, to check the LTC and take no further action if it's valid. Furthermore, it advised to explain to concerned citizens that openly carrying a firearm is legal. The handout referred to the Simkin case.

I've seen it twice.

Once at an ice cream stand....a guy was in line in front of me with his kids..... a 1911 holstered small of back.....no badge present .....nobody died lol.

Once at a school believe it or not. Couple years ago the Vietnam moving wall memorial came to our local high school and my wife and I volunteered to be greeters and help folks find panels. I was at the entrance helping folks find parking spots. Small car with NH plates pulled in and I showed them a spot to park because all the handicap spots were up by the front of the school and the memorial was way in the back. We had spots reserved for handicapped plates. I showed him as his family where to park......they got out of the car and an old man got out of the passenger seat with his cane. He had a revolver holstered right hip. I politely asked if he was law enforcement and he said no.....I said you better leave that gun in your car then this is mass and your on school property.......he stashed it in the glove box. I did not call the popo.....and Nobody died lol

I would assume that MOST assume they are cops because it's so infrequent.

The old guy from NH in whacko's story - ???? I can't even imagine. Maybe if I was coming from a TRULY free state like Alaska or Missouri I'd have that mental lapse. But NH? Good on you for not jamming him up in a clearly jammable situation.
