Four Seasons guns Springfield 1911 - Pretty damn good

I have a crap ton of 45 to shoot through before my move and I invited two friends to my club range for a "all you can shoot on me" day yesterday and they both had brand new Springfield 1911 that were on sale at Four Seasons for something like $600. I've owned a Colt, a Kimber and now have a Greg Derr custom 1911, but these new Springfields were pretty damn good. Slide fit was tight, parkerized finish looked good, they had beveled mag wells, a extended bever tail, and they just shot well. They both had fixed sites that were pretty much right on. Overall I'm impressed as heck on the Springfield 1911 at that price point. Of course lefties are out of luck, no ambi safety, but that is to be expected. Anyone considering getting into the 1911 game should look at these and I don't know if/when Carl will redo this offer.

No, its not. Not every gun is the mondo stainless one. And even that one doesn't cost 1800 bucks. The regular 92x is under 800.

Was it one of the ones with the weird off color frame or was yours all black? (I got mine a few yrs ago, but the newer ones were looking weird for awhile with like a blue-grey-ish frame vs the slide.

The 92FS is on the list of “guns I should have kept,” but I’d rather get a more souped-up model moving forward with night sights etc. But I sold 4 preban mags for $25 each but needed the cash at the time. Still kicking myself over it.

The color was consistant across the firearm dark blue/black

If its close to you I get it.....

But we had people going there from Worcester area to save 20 bucks. Thats retarded.....and realistically most of the time there was no savings. They could have saved more buying online with no tax and sending to a decent place like Pullman arms. Most of the time even with the transfer it was cheaper.

Even down here its what I do even though there is a plethora of like 10 gun stores within 20 mins...........no tax, and I'm dealing with a shop full of guys I like......Marlin 1894 coming in Wed for example. Paid 200 less than anywhere local that I would deal with (big box never) , and no tax. 265 dollar savings. 30 dollar fee.....which is paid for with the 3% cash back I got for putting the gun on my credit card. And all I gotta do is drive 10 mins to pick it up.

I have bought guns all over this State including the Mill.

I bought a gun from Carl once, back about 30 years ago. He had the cheapest price in Massachusetts back then by far. I saved over a hundred bucks compared to Western Mass. prices and gas only cost me $15.00 bucks round trip back then.

For a young guy at the time a hundred bucks was worth it. If I lived closer I probably would have bought many guns from him.

Looks like he is still treating people right.

Don't understand why you wouldn't shop there if the price is right. I like Carl and the guys that work in there are very knowledgeable. I am retired no issues with deli tickets in the middle of the week.

i was thinking about getting one also, but then did read some mixed bag reviews of it and concluded that it is really a russian roulette with those things.
maybe i was wrong, dunno. the price is attractive indeed, but, what are the guarantees that it will really not going to be junk?

and an idea to spend $600 to be forced then to spend an extra $1k on making it work, well. not computing well.

I've bought several guns from theme over the years. Never had an issue. He had what I wanted at a price I was good with. Like what was said above I've bought guns all over the place. I try to do my research and find what I want. The only issue is if a dealer treats me like sh*t then I won't be back.
