Franklin Lodge, the Masonic Lodge of Grafton MA, is running its 17th Annual Turkey Shoot!

As usual, it's the Saturday before Thanksgiving at North Grafton Fish, Bird & Game Club in Grafton, MA, just off Rt 140.

Thanks to Gov. Healy, I will no longer be supplying guns for the shoot (I live in VT and do not have a non-res LTC), but Fox Firearms Training and the President of the North Grafton Fish, Bird & Game Club will be supplying gen-u-whine Marxachusetts registered guns!! (Or bring your own .22 to shoot if you like). Lonely Mountain Arms of Starksboro, VT will be donating ammo. Everything else will remain the same about the shoot. Details below in the flyer.

You can post questions here, email turkeyshoot@franklinlodge.org or email me at info@lonelymountainarms.com.

Man that sounds like a hoot!
It always is!

NGFGB has a shoot house with a nice wood stove; there's always donuts, coffee and hot chocolate, and starting around 11 or so they fire up the grill. Burgers and dogs, chips, etc. We usually have a lot of Brothers and their families from the area, some members of NGFBG (since we've been holding it there every year since 2008), and some NESers always show up, too.

Two types of targets - bullseye and a "lucky" target - this being in MA, we have lots of annual attendees that never get to shoot except this once a year. So the lucky targets lets them have a chance at winning the turkey as long as they can hit an 8.5x11" sheet of paper at 25'. We do about 5 or 6 "run what ya brung" stages - use your carry gun for these. (the president of NGFBG usually will being something large and loud for those...).

I have a brother that lives nearby and is considering joining that club. Is it a kid friendly event? My brother and I would both like to attend if schedules allow!

The Turkey Shoot? Absolutely. We have 3 RSOs on the lines to 6 shooters at all times. No problems with kids - one of the RSOs will be right there helping all new shooters, whether they're 6 or 66. (Two years ago, we had a grandmother, her daughter AND her granddaughter all shooting at the same time. And yes, it was the first time for the granddaughter and grandmother.)

The weather forecast for Saturday looks to be sunny and in the high 40's - GREAT weather for winning a turkey!

There'll be several NESers there, too, including the infamous Scrivener! (Watch out for him - he is a VERY good shooter - one of the top 3, in fact - and usually wins his turkeys. He also donates them to his church.)

N1ZFG, MetalGodZ, myself, Scrivener, and a few others are all regulars. Come on out; it's a great time. Lots of time to socialize between relays, a warm shoot house, food... and best of all, all the money will go to the charitable fund. This year, one of the Lodge charities we'll be donating to is to support a family in Grafton for Christmas - a turkey dinner with ALL the trimmin's (including some Vermont maple syrup that I'm bringing down that they can have for breakfast Christmas morning), and presents for all the kids.
