What do you animals think of it? Yeah, yeah, I know its about a million times better than the M&P Pro Series, but I want to know if anyone has experiance with them.

I currently have a Glock 34, and its my favorite pistol I own. My Glock 32 and Glock 27 are both much larger caliber guns and much smaller frames, so they arent similiar at all to the 34. From what I've been seeing online our pals at Glock still make the 17L in limited numbers, becuase I'm seeing 17L in the Gen 3 style being sold as new. They run around $600ish

Now, I know that I cant shoot some competitions with it becuase its to large, but I dont have the balls to actualy show up at one so yet so thats not an issue. Just looking for personal experiance with the gun.

My grandfather owns one with the competition 3 (3.5?) trigger on it. Extremely accurate, trigger was exceptionally smooth. He bought his in the early 90's.

Very soft shooting and overall pretty darn fun. He still has the original sights on it, which I would love to chuck some different ones on there. I think that if you have the money, you should buy one.

It never malfunctions and he has never had any problems with it, with over well 10,000 thru it.

I owned a 17L and after owning it I would just get a G34 instead. And even if you own a G34 already you're better off
getting another G34. [laugh]

The only thing the 17L does is disqualify itself from being used in a bunch of different disciplines. Some steel matches probably won't care and it could be run in stock auto (eg, Walls of Steel?) or generic plate shoots, though. Going from 5.3" to 6" won't produce a dramatic increase in muzzle velocity, or for that matter, sight radius, or accuracy.

It was a neat looking gun, though... I don't think there are any other polymer framed autos on the market with a 6" barrel.

I'd drop the M&P Pro and go with the XDm 5.25.

I actually have one just back from Springer Precision with a 2.75# trigger. It's a heck of a nice pistol. I've only shot it once (Steel Challenge at Blackwater/USTC) and that was with the stock 7.5# trigger - even then I was able to shoot pretty damned well for someone who'd never shot Steel Challenge (or any XD/XDM) ever before. I'd have no problems recommending it and it might be an option if you're looking for another longslide 9mm.

I did just put some money down on an M&P9 Pro which I'd been looking for for quite some time - found one in a store at a reasonable price ($630) and impulsively put it on layaway.

To be fair, I'll probably get the 34 as well, only because it's $504 at the local shop.

Why? The 34 seems to be a pretty good gun.

I'm just trolling Dench. He considers the M&P to be an instrument of the devil.
