Glock Conversion

No experience with converting the G22 - but I did convert my G27 to 357 Sig by adding a Glock barrel. I've put a couple hundred through it with no problems using the G27 magazines. There is more to be found on conversions over on the Glocktalk forum.

Do you need to also change the recoil spring?

Nope - at least I didn't anyway. I dropped in the barrel and shot to my hearts content. I had an early model 22, so things may have changed, but I added barrel, loaded up .357 Sig and had a nice day. I wish that cartridge would become as prolific as 9mm - I adore it.

Do you need to also change the recoil spring?

I didn't have to change the spring on the G27. My thinking was that 357 Sig runs at a slightly higher pressure than 40, but typically uses lighter bullets. Not much difference in recoil feel between the two, although the 357 barrel was louder.

Of course, if you're loading these like you load the 44 and 500, hell yes, you need a new recoil spring! I'd suggest the front strut spring off an '84 VW GTI.....

yep it just drops in, either GLOCK or any of the aftermarkets like Lone Wolf.

Same magazines, just marked different, same recoil spring.

If you go aftermarket you can shoot reloads.

I have a g26 that I have a 33 upper for (357sig). To swap between the 40 and 357 all you need is the bbl. No extractor change needed, mags are also interchangable.

The 357 sig is just a necked down 40 case using a 9mm bullett..

I swapped my G22 40S&W bbl for a LW 9mm bbl and a buddy swapped his G22's 40S&W bbl for a 357 Sig bbl. Both work fine without having to change the spring. The 357 sig rnd fit fine in the 40S&W mags. I had to buy some G17 9mm mags to reliably feed the 9mm. The 40S&W mags had issues.

Please do note that older 2nd gen frames are not sufficiently reinforced to handle the extreme stresses and slide speeds of the .357 Sig. It'll work for sure, but for how long is anyone's guess.

A 3rd gen will handle it no problem.

On a side note, the OEM .357 Sig barrel for my M&P, which I had backordered for over a year, finally arrived yesterday. Looking forward to trying it.
