Glock Mass. portal transfer still ok with new Law?

Thank you for most of the replies. The Fiance is my daughter so please respect her. They are just starting out on their own and want to do the "Right" thing the "right" way. They can make the decisions that need to be made in 2026 but for now It looks like they can either not worry about it or efa10 on line. again, Thank you!

Thankfully I read past the second sentence.

Good luck with everything

Brings up a good question- can one LTC holder buy a 'gift' for another?

Yes. As long as it's actually a gift. If it's repayment of a past debt, or incurs a new debt, then it's not a gift.

If it's a "gift", and not an actual gift, and the ATF finds out (and gives a crap) you're in for a world of hurt. Actual gifts don't have documentation of payback or pay in advance.

Due to this concern whenever Mrs. Mountain has wanted to give me a pew pew gift or me to her, the one who will own it ends up buying it so there is no straw purchase.

"own" isn't really a thing in Mass. at this point, and not at all federally. When Mrs. Mountain goes to the gun store and buys a gun to give you (or vice versa) there will be a record of the transfer to the buyer. (4473 and FA10 if they do that anymore)

When the gift takes place, unless you tell someone, that record doesn't get updated. The lack of federal or state records on the transfer doesn't make it "not a transfer of ownership" You can absolutely own something you didn't buy.

They could efa-10 it… but there is absolutely no legal reason to do so now that the new law is in effect.

That’s like saying someone could go down to their town hall and ask for their property tax valuation to be raised… but why would you?

Don’t comply with laws that don’t exist.

So how would this play out if something was to happen and something not in the portal/registry hhmmm. Was used to protect.

If you use a gun in self defense, 100% of what you own will be gone through with a fine toothed comb, social media, etc.
