I have a Glock 20 with banged up factory sights, so I bought a set of non-lighted Ameriglo ghost ring sights to try out. Getting the factory sights off was easy enough, as was installing the new front sight.

Here's my question...

Has anybody ever installed a steel Glock rear sight with a drift punch as opposed to a sight pusher? If possible, I'd like to avoid spending $90 on a tool I'll use once.

I've got one too. If you let me know ahead of time, I'll put it in the bag while shooting the IDPA match at Riverside on Sunday.

This question comes up all the time.

I tried to locate a sight pusher tool and couldn't.

So I installed as follows.

1. put slide in vice, protect with a towel.
2. tap sight into place with a hammer and wood dowel.
3. very easy to center sight using a tape measure.

This literally takes all of 2 minutes to do and I have done it a couple of times. Bring dowel and hammer to range when you test it out and when all is good you can add a drop of loctite to help freeze it in place. I have read posts on Glock talk by gunsmiths who claim the wood dowel and hammer is the best way to do it.

The sight pusher is the best way to go; if you can borrow one, do it.
I bought one years ago and never regretted the $ spent. You can actually make a finer adjustment with a sight pusher than you can with conventional click adjustable rear sights.

A wood dowel? I never thought of that. Thanks for the info and sorry for raising this old thread, but now I know how I'll install my new Trijicons without banging them up.
