Hello NES friends, the box reads 45 Auto 185 gr GDHP. Does that just mean Gold Dot hollow points, or something else. Is it still a 45 ACP?

I’d put money on it. Gold dots are hollow points. And good ones.

However! If you are unsure. Send them to me for test and evaluation.

You’re welcome

45 Auto short for Automatic Colt Pistol

not to be confused with GAP Glock Automatic Pistol, something of an orphan round at this point.

Did you google the SKU?

As others have said 45 auto and 45acp are pretty much interchangeable .......

Gdhp means gold dot hollow point

Usually factory amo boxes list the caliber.....the projo weight....then the initials of what type of projo

Jsp is jacketed soft point
Jhp is jacketed hollow point
Fmj is full metal jacket
Rnfp is round nose flat point
Swc is semi wadcutter
Hbwc is hollow base wad cutter
Dewc is double ended wad cutter

There are more but those are some common ones.

Yes, Speer GD .45 comes in 3 sizes that I know of, 185 gr, 200 gr, and 230 gr. Speer also has a G2 line of ammo where the hollow point is filled with an elastomer similar to some ammo in the Hornady line.

It means GOD DA#$ HOLLER POINT, PUNK!
