I still have yet to manage to get to an Appleseed event. I know you teach how to use a sling to make the gun more steady when not using a front rest. Is there a web site someone can point me to that gives a good explanation of exactly how to best use a sling to steady the rifle?

Unfortunately, sling procedure is tough to transmit through words and 2D pictures.
If you want to learn loop sling (which removes the rear of the sling from your rifle and loops around your arm), here's a good web tutorial:

If you want to learn hasty sling (or loop sling, for that matter since it's tough to learn from the pictures), it would seriously take me less time to meet up with you and just show you than it would to type it all out and you would learn it better. Send me a PM and we'll meet up.
