Hi, guys. This is my first post here.

I have recently moved to Franklin and would like to find a nice range nearby. I am currently a member at Riverside in Hudson, but I'd like to be closer and at the same time get away from the smoke and range nazis there. About the only thing that I really like about Riverside is the fact that it has both an indoor pistol range and outdoor rifle ranges.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John

Hopkinton Sportsmen's Association in Hopkinton (right off 495). Indoor pistol, 100 yard outdoor range, trap and skeet range, 200 yard range in the process of being built, 3 pistol pits in the process of being built, etc. Check them out.

Literally - the heavy equipment is currently at the club finishing up the work.

Wrentham Sportsmen - trap field, 50-foot pistol, 50-yard rifle ranges. Also a walking trail for archers and a stocked pond. RIGHT off of 495 at Rte. 1. Average of two rifle or pistol matches per month.

Also look at Independent, in Foxboro by Lake Mirimichi. LOTS of shotgun action, rifle and pistol ranges and a monthly action pistol match.

might suit you. Never heard of Range Nazis. [smile]

Come on out and see the place tomorrow - we shoot Trap and Skeet Sundays from 1-4. There'll be someone to show you around the place.

2nd SRG. Myself and Fiance plus some of our friends are all members. Great outdoor range. Nice indoor range. A lot of fun up on the hill with Trap and Skeet.

I don't see anything about an indoor range on their website. Can you provide me with some info about it including any restrictions? The majority of my shooting is 9mm JACKETED. I refuse to put unjacketed ammo through any of my guns, so no allowing jacketed ammo is a killer for me.

AFAIK, Jacketed pistol ammo (non bottlenecked case, so 9mm para is cool) is allowed.

Best bet is to go to the website,

www.srgclub.com

then go to the Committees tab, and email the Pistol Chairman - the indoor range is his domain.

Sorry I can't be more precise, but most of the ammo I discharge is measured with gauge, not caliber![smile]

Hopkinton Sportsmens (www.hsasports.com) allows jacketed and plain lead on the indoor range. Rifle calibers, pistols shooting rifle calibers, and wildcats with rifle like characteristics are not allowed on the indoor range - so, as long as you don't bring a Thompson contender or AR15 based pistol for the indoor range, you should be OK.
