I paid $575, about $75 more than I wanted to but I could no longer fight the temptation. I ran 300 rounds through it today in freezing weather at my local range. I mostly shot steel plates and I'm addicted to this thing. It'll definitely be going with me to the range every time I go. For $0.03/round the gun will pay for itself in about 1500 rounds, instead of shooting my AR. This would be a great gun to shoot a .22lr tactical match with.

Looking good. I LOVE mine. I ended up getting a cheap red dot, low profile mount and a MP5 sling off gunbroker.com for it. I HATE the 10 round magazine though...I need to get another 1 or 3.

I think this is the first post I've seen of yours that isn't in the FS section with AR15 mags...looks like selling them all off paid off huh?

How is the trigger? No matter how nice a gun looks or handles, the trigger is the make or break for me...

I really want to watch any GSG5 threads as I fell in love but was scared off with some stuff I read on a couple of other forums (AR15 in particular). There seemed to be many who have ammo issues (lots of guns do) but some quality issues with the barrel, light strikes and there appear to so be many recommended mods to fix them I just got cold feet. Too expensive to break easily or spend more time back and forth to the manufacturer than with me at the range!

I hope yours all work great and please post if they do or don't so I can feel comfortable enough to save my pennies and pick one up sometime next year.

Enjoy!

nice

nice pickup, i have about 5k+ rounds through mine,
only issues' have been ammo related. wall fed bulk
finally had to fully clean it. wasn't as bad as i thought.
look out for the falling spring, i think it's the bolt hold open??
other than that, it's a blast to shoot.

have fun w/ it

Not really, I usually only make $1-$2/mag. I trade my friend in a free state P-mags for them so it's not like I'm making off real well with them. I paid for this gun by trading silver for the past month.

There was one in the classifieds for $450 then went down to $400 that I almost bought, but I managed to have restraint and resist this time. Must... resist... expensive... urges... (at least until I have more money again)

I found the stock made the gun feel kinda cheezy, so I took some advice and replaced it with a real MP5 stock I got on gunbroker for $35. It required a little work with a dremmel and a drill, but man, what a difference.

The problem with the 10 rnd mags is you run out of ammo just as you're starting to have fun. :-)

I've only shot Federal Bulk Pack and never had a problem.

I would agree about the furniture. It does feel kinda cheap but I've felt worse. I will probably replace if with HK furniture. The 10rd mags do suck but I'm use to it w/ my 10/22.

Slightly off topic, but GSG has a .22 AK-47 in the works (no launch date announced)...

I did the same with mine... feels and looks much better than the factory stock. It wasn't a nice a fit as others had described, but I cured that by bedding it with Brownells Acraglass.

I also replaced the handguard and stock screw with MP5 quick take down pins.

I like the black one but the "wood" one seems a little to cheap looking for me.

So I took mine out for a test drive today.. WHAT FUNNNNNNN~!!!!!!

I was disapointed in the total lack of recoil, but then i took my hearing protection off ( i know bad boy) and was astounded to hear almost no shot sound, just the balistic of the bullet hitting paper. The magazine that came with my weapon is a little wobbly, and the ammunition I had was a mixed bag of good and bad. Failure to feeds were common, I BELIEVE because of the lead ammo. The copper jacketed ran fine through it. Feels like the spring is a little soft on some rounds, and the trigger is BEAUTIFUL. Sights are easily moved and in no time i was punching quarter sized holes in the paper with tight groups.

All in all, a GREAT purchase through ZHA, hopefully I can come up with a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds... cause they go FAST~!

My GSG-5 is the only gun that goes with me to the range every time I go. And it's the only gun that draws people over whenever I take it out.

Shoot the FAL Para. Nothing
Shoot the M4gery. Nothing.
Garand? Nada.

Haul out the GSG-5. "Oooo. What's that?"

Fortunately, a mag of ammo is less that $.50, so I always answer that expectant look on their faces by handing them a mag.

I got the same reaction too. Everyone wanted to try it. And everyone liked it a lot. Most of these guys are seasoned life-long shooters too.

Just an update, I just got one friday and because it is the first anniversary model it looks slightly different ... it's model # is GSG5 SD

I just bought the same one, says "first anniversary edition" down the side. I was surprised it was only out for a year... I thought this was a bit older.

I'll be bringing it to the range for the first time this weekend.

Any issues with the rear sight not adjusting for elevation? That surprised me a bit. I'm wondering if I'll want to get a replacement for that, or just put a red dot scope on top. (What is a good mount that converts the top to picatinny?)

Take a close look at your rear sight. The various "peep" holes should be at slightly different heights on the drum, enabling coarse elevation adjustments.
