I saw this talked about on another board.

Thought some of you might want to know about the deal.

You know whats legal in Mass I have no clue so if its not legal as its not pre 1994 feel free to delete the thread.

I didn't mean to tease just pass the word around.

$550 Bargain Bin Rifle

We typically only sell these rifles at gunshows, but have collected way too many of them. These rifles are a mix of blems (scratches or discolored), trade ins, over run colored stocks or used parts. Most all parts are brand new on the inside, this includes barrels, bolt/carriers, internals, buffer & spring but have external flaws due to being stored in "bulk" and are listed as being used. Lowers are a mix of manufactures and include CMMG, DPMS, Oly, Doublestar, EA and maybe others.
None of these rifles will win any beauty contests, but will make a excellent truck or trunk guns. All rifles have been test fired and all are as-is. The $20 hand select fee will ensure matching furniture and nothing too majorly flawed externally. Some rifles don't have a dust cover installed, but will have one included.

These are available through the website only. Do not call about these; no orders will be taken over the phone. If you have a question, please email us at sales@cmmginc.com Please put your dealer's name/address in the "ship to" on the checkout. Please have your dealer email his license to sales@cmmginc.com or fax it to 660-248-2290. There are no quantity, military or LE discounts on these.

Shipping is $15 per rifle (even if the checkout doesn't indicate it). No accessories come with the firearms and again, these are as-is.

Price: $550.00

Hand Select: No Hand SelectHand Select (+$20.00)

LEGAL DISCLAMER: Know your state laws Poster not responsible if you buy something you cant own and get in hot water over it.

The pictures show that these are all in the forbidden No-Ban configuration that's a no-go in MA. I'd bet they wouldn't ship to MA at all, but if they did, the dealers would have to "neuter" the guns to be legal here.

But we do have members here from "free states", so have at it.

+1, but this would be an easy fix. Cut off the bayonet lug, pin the stock and weld a comp on the barrel.

Can MA resident be in possession of the upper to do the work them selves? Then buy the rifle with the evil stock removed pin it and reattach when finished?

That's a really good deal!

Even if a person wasn't interested in one "as is", they'd still be a bargain as a project gun (or even just for the parts).

As far as external appearance goes, an application of GunKote or DuraCoat will fix that.

The AGs office might not take kindly to doing that, but I can't think of any legal reasons that would outright prohibit it.

Just out of curiosity, could a mass resident have one shipped to an out of state ffl, transfered to them, and make it compliant themselves. Then just register it in state on an FA10?

I don't think the FFL is allowed to transfer a rifle that would be illegal for you to possess in your home state.
However, you can have it transferred to a MA FFL that does gunsmithing, as the FFL is allowed to possess non-AWB compliant items.

I'm thinking of having one of these sent to an MA dealer. Should I order myself, or should I have the FFL order on my behalf?

FWIW, Stateline in Mason NH will Massify rifles. So, I bet they would do it to one of these if you transferred to them.

It'll cost of course.

I just sent an email to them, they said that they can not make them ban complient as they are already in boxes ready to go. maybe if you can find an FFL that's a smith and have them do some neutering, that might work...

Either way Lupis42, you should cantact your FFL and arrange it with them before you order.

We call that split and ship.

Where a rifle is legal here but only if in a specific configuration we have it shipped to a non California FFL who takes it and splits it up disassembles the magazine if its over 10 rounds (as its legal to import mag repair kits) and ships the part with the serial # to the California FFL and the other parts like a barreled upper (FAL) or a AR lower in the case of a AR type rifle and the rest comes to us.

ETA: does Mass have constructive possession laws?

IE if not just have it shipped in two separate boxes and do the required mods yourself?

The ideal solution (which the seller has pretty much ruled out) is to purchase the upper and lower separately.

Where you are in NH this would be an easy purchase for you. No one knows how beat up they are it seems. Might be ok for a beater carbine. don't forget to budget for shipping and FFL transfer.

Here is what I consider a good deal on a PREBAN COLT AR15.

Colt saw the writing on the wall and removed the bayonet lug from their AR-15, removed the AR-15 moniker, and presto-chango you have the Sporter. Of course this didn't work out as they were eventually banned anyway just like the rest. Looking for $1000.

This must ship to a FFL in a state where they are legal and the FFL must accept shipments from non-FFL's Or FTF in OHIO.

1 in 7 twist, heavy barrel, standard size takedown pins.

This is a pretty fair deal for an actual all-Colt firearm in great condition. It comes with 1 Colt OEM 20 round magazine.

I have this listed elsewhere, so first come, first served.

Seems these are back in.... Did anyone try to get in on these before?

A friend got so impatient waiting for his RRA A4 Varmint that he bought one ...more money than sense sometimes. That was early spring of 2008 when what appears to be the identical deal was being offered. However, he ended up with a blemished (surface scratches) DPMS complete rifle (upper & lower 20" A2) ...$550.

The trigger was clunky, and it wasn't too pretty, but it was fine otherwise.

I say he won. I wouldn't roll those dice unless I was really a gambler though, and I'm not. I say better to save those pennies and get something that you'll be happy owning and shooting. And if a gamble suits your needs and style ...then roll with it.

I can. From the moment that you take possession of it until the job is completed, you're in possession of an illegal "assault weapon" and subject to major felony charges and no guns here or anywhere for the rest of your life. Find an FFL who could do the work before transferring the rifle to you.

Feedback from someone who bought one of those "bargain bin" rifles:
Hi everyone. I'm new to the AR world, just bought a CMMG bargain bin as my first rifle. I picked up a magpul backup sight and 4 pmags for it and headed to the range today.

All was well until halfway through the first magazine (shooting Wolf .223) when the gun started double firing twice in a row. The bolt then got stuck in the forward position and it took some decent strength on the charging handle to bring it back. I then replaced it with a full magazine and all went well for a short time until it began to double fire again. I removed the magazine and ejected the last Wolf round and put in a magazine of Federal .223. The first shot was fine, but then it fired 3 rounds in a row. At that point I stopped shooting and called it a day. I just dropped it at the local gunsmith, and dropped CMMG an e-mail.

Remember, when it comes to firearms, "as is" often means you get to pay to fix problems yourself!

Probably one of the best recent reasons to get any used firearm checked out by a competant 'smith before you use it.

Used guns is where the Smith and Wesson lifetime no-questions-asked guarantee really shines...

You sent an email to State Line? Or to CMMG?

I have bought two rifles from State Line - they converted both of them to MA legal config for me. I am seriously considering one (or two) of these bargain bin AR's, seems like a good deal.
