Why do folks take pics of their guns to use for showing off or posting for sale, with the slides locked back?

It's like posting a picture of your car for sale with the hood, trunk and all the doors open.

Don't understand it and don't like it.

Sorry for the grump...I'm tired tonight.
 
If I bought a Ferrari or a Doge Viper I would definitely post pics with the hood up but maybe thats just me [smile]. Its one thing to include pics like that and another to make it the only pics you post.
 
I think you should have both. In the photography business we called it the beauty shot. The other pictures were the "application views" showing greater detail.

I find I want to see the recoil shield on any revolver I buy, and the feed ramp and bolt/slide on any automatic. But I still want to see that pretty picture that makes you say... "I WANT THAT"
