Hi NES. Looking for recommendations for someone who can perform a type iii hard black anodize on a small piece of aluminum I have. Figured I’d make a post here and try to support a somewhat local business rather than sending it out to some random shop elsewhere.

Thanks in advance

There’s a great long time plater in Billerica whose name escapes me.
40 years ago we were sending stuff there. I made a special rack for them way back for gold plating on some military guidance gear.
Most recently they did some amazing chrome work for the FD on a restoration.

AOTCO. We also do a lot of business with them. For standard things like anodizing, gold plate, alodine, etc they're good. But they can be a lot more variable for specialized finishes and watch out for racking damage if you don't specify how parts are being held.

It’s a small piece of aluminum (a pocket knife scale). I’m not sure if they’d be willing to do something that small, but I’m willing to pay the shop minimum if the price is fair.

I am not familiar with AOTCO but the shop I did business with when I had a shop has a $100 minimum lot charge for hard anodizing.
