Hello All,

I just picked up a High Standard Supermatic Trophy just for sentimental reasons (had a HS as in the early 70's).

Problem I am having is that once the trigger is pulled, it takes a TON of strength to pull the slide back. IF it is cocked and the slide returned to full battery, it slides back with no problem at all.

So what gives please? [thinking]

Thanks

The extra effort required is the cocking of the hammer. 22 rimfire is hard to ignite so the HS has a rather stiff hammer spring. Congrats on your purchase. This is one of the finer target pistols made. I bought my Supermatic Trophy for $150 at Ivanhoe in Watertown in the early 70's. It has served me well for many years. There is a web site dedicated to these pistols with a wealth of information, wish I could remember the url.

I mounted a dot scope on mine a long time ago and wanted to remove the large rear sight to make operating the slide easier (the sight gets in the way) and struggled for years with no success. Information on the web sight made the job doable, if not easy. These pistols are not exactly easy to dissamble. I'm sure if you do a search on High Standard forums you will find this site.

Thank you for your kind words.....I had a Victor in the mid 70's but gave it up when I was appointed on a police department and had to qualify in police training, etc. and haven't done bullseye until late 2011...gosh is the dime ten ring a little harder to hit.

I did find a reproduction manual on E-Bay becuase I too would like to remove that rear site which gets in the way of the red dot scope I mounted on it.

If ever you remember that web site please let me know but until then I'll search around....

many thanks
