So I have some guns in the safe that I really don't know much about. They are technically my Fathers but I am in care of them. He, unfortunatly can't remember anything about them so I have been trying to figure things out. These safe queens need to be taken out and made dirty. :) They haven't seen the range in over 20 years, sad.
Not all are going to come out of hiding just yet, but I can't wait to try out the S&W 39-2, and S&W 52-1, that seems to have had a lot of work done to it. The 52-1 says, 38sp. mid range on the barrel, what is that all about? I know my dad shot alot of reloads out of it, but thats about it.

This one has had me stumped. It looks like a 9mm? But I can't find any info on it.
Thanks for any help!

post WWII browning hi-power M1935, in 9mm I think.

ETA: actually, I take that back. It may be before the war/occupation. But definitely not during the time Nazis took over.

That serial number is pretty low, could be an early example.

Nice find. It's good that you're interested in guns. It breaks my heart when these things get traded for a gift card in a gun buy-back.

Let me give you some very good advice: you don't want to keep that gun and should immediately give it to me - transfered legally of course.

Just kidding, that is a very nice find and something you should definitely hold on to....unless you want to give it to me.

The 52 was a target pistol meant to shoot wadcutter loads, I don't really know if it will shoot anything else. All in all sounds like you've got a very nice collection.

And that would explain why I have so many wadcutter heads looking for brass. :)
Glad I found all of his personal reloading data books too. But there is a ton of info to go through!

That Hi Power is an early pre occupation one,it should have two "splits" or cuts in the bottom of the mag.
The holster looks like it might be Nazi, does it have any makers name on it ?I might not be for a Hi Power but that not uncommon.I bough a luger last summer that had a Hi Power holster (traded the holster for a proper mag)

If you interested in more info on the I would suggest Vanderlinden" book "The Belgium Browning Pistols"

Holy crap! I just found a swastika on the holster! It has the eagle above it and this, "WaA195" under it. Next to that it says "dta 42". In this home, creepy!
And the mag does have 2 slits in the bottom of it to form a little tab it looks like.

Hi Ed,

Let me look it up(have to dig out my Whitingtons),just got back from an auction. That Hi Power was probably put into service after the occupation. The mag is a corrrect one,not post war. then, thats good !
Will check back and find out the maker of the holster

Dave

here it is from Whittington Vol III

dta 42 maker code

A. Waldhausen Jhn. M.
