I bought a level B one, just to add to my prepper collection. It wasn't that expensive, and I figured it might be useful. I found that the level A suits were over $1k and some over $2k. Since that's out of my budget at the moment, I got the level B. It has foot protection, rear entry, rear oxygen connection, but no gloves. The gloves, apparently, need to be taped on.

Anyone else succumb to the hysteria? [laugh2]

I don't get it. If I had one of these, and needed to leave the house, I've gone and seriously ****ed up already. I guess the same might be true for in the house...

I can think of unique situations where it would be useful.

I may or may not have five of these in my basement.

I checked amazon for that and it looks like a NATO chemical suit which is less than what I'm looking for.

Edit: I've read some reviews that some of them are 1990s or even 80s surplus. Looks good, though.

I'm just curious... what situations?

I'm sure it's more useful as a snow suit than to keep out any kind of hazard. They are pretty warm. I bought a bunch when they were like $15. Mine may be slightly different than the one in the ad.

Edit: Checked my order history - they were actually $6.95:

Belgian NBC Coverall
Sizing
Large/Extra-Large
BNBCC $6.95
Ordered: 4
Shipped: 4
$27.80

Mine look more like this:

Where did you pick it up? If you don't mind me asking.

It isn't 100% effective against biological, but it's better than nothing and cheaper than level A suits. Also, the sizes run large.

Edit: Not that Ebola is the reason, really, but since it's not airborne, I'd assume this suit would protect against the virus. Gloves and boots would need to be taped at the seams. Put gloves and boots on, wrap the shit out of them with duct tape, good to go.

Cool, thanks!

Situations where family members might have an issue or I need to aid someone who might have a problem.

OK. That's fine. Is a suit like that sharp-object-resistant? My only concern would be that, in a situation where you'd need it, your entire frame of mind would need to change. I would need a lot of work on watching where I step, what I touch, who I interact with, etc. Especially in high emotion.

I have zero training or knowledge on the subject. I just started researching it. Here is the definitions of levels, though. The one I bought is just the suit, which is why it is less expensive I'd imagine. Doesn't have a respirator and all that. I'll post a review and update when it arrives.

I'm a contractor for the EPA and we deal with emergency response, counter terrorism, hazmat etc to name a few. We have Level A suits at work so if SHTF I'd run up to work and grab some level A suits lol. And yes they're pricy, I think my health and safety officer said they're at least $1k like you said.

Just another tip. If you search hazmat suits on Amazon you'll find Level A suits for $100 to $200. They're training suits...don't buy those.

Exactly. The SCBAs are good for 60 minutes but much less if you're really exerting yourself.

Probably would have been better with a Level B TyChem suit, full face APR with CBRN cartridges, butyl rubber gloves, rubber over-boots, and a roll of duct tape. Better mobility, vision, and hearing, and cartridges have a way longer change out time... still hot as hell, but at least winter is coming. With the proper training you can seal that suit up and be ready to take long walks around the Ebolapocalypse.

What are you using for an SCBA or other air supply? You won't make it to the grocery store with a Level A encapsulated suit and no air.

Working on it. Once I actually get my hands on the suit, I'm going to start adding what's necessary.
