headlamp recommendation?

I like Petzl like the one hanging here in my hammock.

Murphy's Law dictates that the batteries will eventually go dead when it is dark out.

So on all my headlamps I mark the positive ends of the battery compartment with white paint to make it a little easier to orient the batteries.

@Admin
You know the spring is always on the negative.

The nitecore nu25 is very popular with backpackers and hikers.

It is rechargeable.

I have a few black diamond ones and they are also very good.

I have a couple Petzl's, a Black Diamond, and a heavy-ass Streamlight. Honestly, the most handy and what I use the most are these ~$12 units from Amazon-

Rechargeable and decent battery life. The flat LED band makes a nice little flood light for the tent or cabin. Very light weight.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents - another Petzl was mentioned upthread, but the Petzl Tikka RGB not only has 3 brightness levels, but it also has a red light and a green light - and you can set it to go directly to the red light without cycling through the bright white lights and ruining your night vision. It runs on either AAA or a rechargeable micro USB battery. Mine has lasted close to 10 years with 0 issues.
