I’m curious how difficult it is to obtain a pistol permit, I have the app. from my local PD I also am taking the required class next week. I have been arrested years ago for minor offenses, I own a shotgun with out a hunting license (via the 2 week B.G. check) but Im sure the background is a bit more in-depth to obtain a permit. I believe I have a breach of peace and maybe possession of alcohol by a minor on my record. Any input or advise positive or not is much appreciated, thank you.

First, welcome to the forum. You'll be amazed how much you learn the more you visit. Be sure to do a search, though, before posting any questions - there are a few of us here who "shit on newbies" for asking questions that have been asked and answered many times.

Second - you need to attend a firearms safety class ASAP to review the current firearms laws. There's definitely some things you should know. Check out the www.goal.org website for the next scheduled class, or give them a call.

jbibisi: you didn't specify your state and you put this in the general gun law. You may want to edit your post to include what state you are in.

Owning a shotgun in MA without a FID as far as I know is a felony, but IANAL.

If you are in NH, as long as you aren't felon, or have a violent domestic offense against you, you are probably ok.
