Helped out a friend and took box of misc ammo. Can anyone I’d what this round is
Have 16 rounds of it. I can’t make out what is stamped on it

If it is UT 42, that's Utah Ordnance Plant, 1942. Black tip is AP.

AP=Armor Piercing=Will penetrate metal. The tip is very hard. A file will confirm that. If the tip is heat treated steel, a magnet will confirm that. I'm not an expert on AP, this is just from my findings. Jack.

Buy a Garand and more of the same ammo.

I vote Karma, and it is absolutely armor piercing 30-06, and definitely corrosive.

I had a bunch of them once. Took them to deer camp in Maine. Shot them into trees. Amazing how big a tree that they will penetrate. Fun. Jack.

I've got a handful of the bandoleers full of the AP and when researching the price you're pretty spot on wrt the value.
