Hello All,

I looked at the 3" S&W 1911 the other day when I stopped into the gun shop and I liked it a lot. It felt nice in my hands and was nice and small. I am thinking about picking one up as my carry weapon, but wanted to see what the people who have already picked one up think of them.

How are they compared to the full size 5" 1911's? I assume they will have a bit more kick and muzzle rise with the shorter barrel on it. Are people using them for carry at all yet? How comfortable are they when paired with an IWB holster? Also I have heard a couple times the 3" 1911 platform sometimes has some feeding issues, can anyone who has encountered this elaborate on it?

Thanks,
BE4TNUT

If you are carrying IWB, it isn't the length of the barrel that makes it hard to conceal. I carry a 5" IWB and I'm not a big guy.

I won't go smaller than a 4" 1911. I want the extra sight radius, lower recoil, and better reliability.

I agree with M1911. IWB a full size 1911 is easy to carry. Personally I'm not a fan of short 1911's, they tend to be less reliable than the full size guns. I doubt that S&W would release a less than reliable gun so I'm sure that the 3" gun is good to go with the right ammo but you're always better off with a longer 1911.
