how much would you pay for a used glock 17 in MASS

Holy crap! I definitely should have bought a 4th gen Glock before I moved here, only to sell it!
I only brought my Springfield XD40... But bought a few guns in Mass.

A Glock is a 500 dollar gun new, don't pay stupid money for one because the MA .GOV has declared that they are made out of Unobtanium.

I'd rather have a new M&P with a Derr trigger job and a couple of C notes in my pocket for ammo and leather.

I love m&ps, especially if it's just for target shooting. However, for home defense or carry - hi cap mags matter to me.

Most gunfights do not require mass amounts of ammo, if one of the more knowledgeable members can put up a number of rounds the average civilian gunfight statistically has, but I would bet the number is 6 or less.

I would also suggest the carrying of extra magazines and the ability to reload when empty along with the skill to drop and reload a magazine should it not feed is an important skill that should be part of "tap, rack, and roll" training. A 33 round magazine in a glock looks nice, and it is a fun range toy, but it has been my experience they are not reliable especially in sub compacts.

Lets say for the sake of conversation Glock decides to make a MA compliant weapon, or this whole AG/EOPS crap goes away and Glocks are now flooding the market in MA, then what happens to these 900 dollar guns?

Only suckers at this point are paying $800 or $900 for a Glock in MA. You have to be completely off your rocker to ever pay more than $700, for any model, save for maybe a tricked out 34 or 35 or a gun that has a ton of mags.

BTW, in a way, Glocks are flooding the market here, whether the AG likes it or not. **** her. Long gone are the days of the $800 G36.

The lack of capacity on the M&P isn't what bothers me.... this "shoe" garbage, though, drives me bananas. And on top of that, now you have to grind down the followers to get the frigging mags to work right. Blech.

Funny, everybody talks tough when they don't want one or already have one. The fact of the matter is who gives a damn what you pay for it? You buy a gun once and then you have it for life. Yeah, I over paid for my G34 five years ago by about $150, but so what. I didn't have to wait and wait and wait until I found one at a good price. I bought it, and I've been enjoying it and shooting it every weekend since I bought it. I long ago forgot what I paid for it. I laugh when I see others cringing at paying $50 more than they think they should and then passing on a Glock only to buy a crappy M&P that they then spend $100 to have a trigger job done to. Only you can decide what a particular gun is worth to you. I like hearing all you guys saying don't spend over $400 for a Glock. That's music to my ears because I know when someone puts one up for sale that I want I won't have to worry about competing with any of you to buy it. Good luck finding pre-ban high caps for your M&P or your XDM pistol...

Well, that's the beauty of a free market right there. People can make economic decisions based on whatever is best for them. Want it NOW, well then you might pay extra for the convenience factor. Want it at a good price? You might have to do some more legwork (or clever negotiating) but the deals are there for those who seek them.

Just Paid $525, for my Austrian Proofed glock 19 gen 3, K letter serial prefix

i don't mind paying a tad over retail , as long as i know its an L letter or before.

As long as you think it's a good price then i'd say go for it. I've bought many guns for more than I probably should simply because they are hard to come by or I thought they were cool. Personally I wouldn't pay more than $400 for LNIB 3rd Gen G17 in MA. If I were to sell mine I would ask probably $350 since the night sights are starting to get dim.

The M&P's are nice and can be had for cheap in MA but I get annoyed by mechanical safeties and magazine safeties. No need for either of them on a handgun designed for this purpose. If you can find one without those then they are great. Just bought a M&P 9c and other than the mag safety I have no complaints. I don't think i'll carry it instead of my G26 but it's a nice little handgun.

The other problem I found is that many here bought 3rd and 4th gen Glocks for way more than they are worth and are asking absurd prices for them. The only Glock that should sell 2nd hand for anywhere near $700 is a like new G21 with fresh night sights. IMHO these people made bad choices but are just trying to get their $$ back. No harm in that but I wouldn't pay an extra $300 just to have a 4th gen.

so time to tally up:

price voted
================
$350 5
$400 6
$450 4
$500 8
$550 1
$600 5
$650 0
over $700 1

15 people think price should be around 450 or less
8 people think 500 is a fair price
6 people think that 550-600 is acceptable price

Is all on how much you want to pay,,, for example

1.Four seasons got Glock 27 for $699 would you pay $699 for a Glock gen 2 or a Glock gen4??

also same with Glock gen 1 $470 or would u pay the extra $230 and get a Glock gen 4 or less for gen 3

A lot of people that are selling 4th gens arent overpaying. But if the current market is 700 and they can get it. They will ask it. You only have the AG to thank for that, no one else.

In great shape ready to go with everything it came with $500 is fair in my opinion
I got 2, payed more for the first but had a lot of work already done on it. Still a better shooter then the one I paid $500 for. So it is what you feel comfortable paying.

.

I've never seen a 3rd gen G17 on NES for less than $400, maybe I missed it - but I doubt it. Heck, I don't even think I've seen a gen 1 or2 for less than $400 unless it was all beat up.

It's great if you would theoretically sell for your glock for less than market price, but I'm not sure it really means anything in the context of them thread.

ETA: this thread is depressing :( might as well add a pic

No, but I have seen a Glock 36 in MA in the NES classifieds that went for $475.... I was the first to view it, and passed as I didnt really need another glock

The market was oversaturated with G36s last year, IIRC. There were two or three on the board that kept getting bumped and they were all under $600... they hung around awhile.

I remember one guy was whining about Glock prices and I sent him the link to one of those guns and he was like "waaaaaaaaaah I don't wanna drive to western mass" [thinking]

Just to level set this conversation a bit, a Gen4 G17 is $550 on Bud's, then you'd have to pay a ~$40 transfer fee. The same gun at a typical shop in NH will be about $570. Pre-ban 17 round mags are typically about $40 ea, sometimes a bit less.

Yup, there is about a $100-200 markup here in MA due to the AG regs. For some other brands HK, SAI, kimber, etc the markup is even a little higher.

The scary thing is that if FTF sales are banned, we could really be out of luck :(
