A Glock is a 500 dollar gun new, don't pay stupid money for one because the MA .GOV has declared that they are made out of Unobtanium.
I'd rather have a new M&P with a Derr trigger job and a couple of C notes in my pocket for ammo and leather.
Lets say for the sake of conversation Glock decides to make a MA compliant weapon, or this whole AG/EOPS crap goes away and Glocks are now flooding the market in MA, then what happens to these 900 dollar guns?
Most gunfights do not require mass amounts of ammo, if one of the more knowledgeable members can put up a number of rounds the average civilian gunfight statistically has, but I would bet the number is 6 or less.
I would also suggest the carrying of extra magazines and the ability to reload when empty along with the skill to drop and reload a magazine should it not feed is an important skill that should be part of "tap, rack, and roll" training. A 33 round magazine in a glock looks nice, and it is a fun range toy, but it has been my experience they are not reliable especially in sub compacts.
Funny, everybody talks tough when they don't want one or already have one. The fact of the matter is who gives a damn what you pay for it? You buy a gun once and then you have it for life. Yeah, I over paid for my G34 five years ago by about $150, but so what. I didn't have to wait and wait and wait until I found one at a good price. I bought it, and I've been enjoying it and shooting it every weekend since I bought it. I long ago forgot what I paid for it. I laugh when I see others cringing at paying $50 more than they think they should and then passing on a Glock only to buy a crappy M&P that they then spend $100 to have a trigger job done to.
With 2 preban hi-caps
Gen 1-2.5: $500
Gen 3: $600
Gen 4: $700
Sad, but true![]()
so time to tally up:
price voted
================
$350 5
$400 6
$450 4
$500 8
$550 1
$600 5
$650 0
over $700 1
15 people think price should be around 450 or less
8 people think 500 is a fair price
6 people think that 550-600 is acceptable price
As long as you think it's a good price then i'd say go for it. I've bought many guns for more than I probably should simply because they are hard to come by or I thought they were cool. Personally I wouldn't pay more than $400 for LNIB 3rd Gen G17 in MA. If I were to sell mine I would ask probably $350 since the night sights are starting to get dim.
The M&P's are nice and can be had for cheap in MA but I get annoyed by mechanical safeties and magazine safeties. No need for either of them on a handgun designed for this purpose. If you can find one without those then they are great. Just bought a M&P 9c and other than the mag safety I have no complaints. I don't think i'll carry it instead of my G26 but it's a nice little handgun.
The other problem I found is that many here bought 3rd and 4th gen Glocks for way more than they are worth and are asking absurd prices for them. The only Glock that should sell 2nd hand for anywhere near $700 is a like new G21 with fresh night sights. IMHO these people made bad choices but are just trying to get their $$ back. No harm in that but I wouldn't pay an extra $300 just to have a 4th gen.
Too bad everyone tries to sell them for $700+
If I were to sell mine I would ask probably $350 since the night sights are starting to get dim.
.
I've never seen a 3rd gen G17 on NES for less than $400, maybe I missed it - but I doubt it. Heck, I don't even think I've seen a gen 1 or2 for less than $400 unless it was all beat up.
It's great if you would theoretically sell for your glock for less than market price, but I'm not sure it really means anything in the context of them thread.
ETA: this thread is depressingmight as well add a pic

No, but I have seen a Glock 36 in MA in the NES classifieds that went for $475.... I was the first to view it, and passed as I didnt really need another glock
Just to level set this conversation a bit, a Gen4 G17 is $550 on Bud's, then you'd have to pay a ~$40 transfer fee. The same gun at a typical shop in NH will be about $570. Pre-ban 17 round mags are typically about $40 ea, sometimes a bit less.
