I have a Ruger MK II 22/45 and lately it has been experiencing a lot of FTE's. I ordered a Volquartzen extractor but I can't seem to remove the old extractor from the bolt. I did see a video on youtube that shows using a dental pick to compress the extractor spring and then lift it out from the bolt. No matter how I try it I cannot get a dental pick to fit into any kind of seam... Anyone ever replace their extractor and can give a frustrated Ruger owner a clue?

Thanks.

Yes go to sears and get a set of picks. And follow the video. It takes a little work but I've done three or four. It gets easier after you do a few.

The guy in the video does it in one smooth motion in about 2 seconds... Guess having the right tool for the job does make a difference. I'll go make the investment, I think they will come in handy over the years.
Thanks.
