I was once told by a sailor that if you cannot complete your job training in the Navy, you become a BM. He made it sound like the lowest job on the totem pole.

Bowline. Always bowline. I use them for everything, except for when I need a dragon bowline.....

This. I rigged a bucket for my son to collect rocks in and it was two bowlines with paracord.

Its the one knot evwry person should know how to tie in the dark.

I wouldn't let any person on a deck I was responsible for without making sure they could tie that knot and had a folder on their body.
