Ideal length of pinned stock

What is the ideal length of a pinned stock for a post-ban AR?

There are about 5 holes on the tube it seems.

I am staring to think about this since I want to get an AR soon.

If this is too much of a pain I just might get a fixed VLTOR Mod stock.

It depends entirely on you as what fits me perfectly might be too long or too short for you.

If you are about 5'9" to 6'0", I'd say put it on the third hole from shortest and be done. A bit short for prone and a bit long for standing, but that's what compromise is all about.

The whole idea of the adjustable stock is what's the best fit today, tomorrow, 6 months from now and so on. Today you may be shooting with just a tee shirt and you adjust for that. 6 months from now you may be shooting with a vest and winter coat and the adjustment would be different again.
But I realize what you're looking for and how you're stuck with having to pin it. Like the others have said, whatever fits you is the best.
