Which one would you buy for a new AWB i know its a little late in the game so i have to pay premium, but due to a very nice NES'r i can store this rifle with him while im away at college.. But tell me the pros and cons . Recoil as a first rifle, ammo availability, mag availability.

Arsenal SGL 31 in 5.45

Or i figure i could give you all a third option ..
Skip the AK for now and try and get parts to build an AR-15. Since by far .223/5.56 is made here in the usa.

the only differences here is the ammunition and magazines.

not the rifles.

and we don't know what you want out of the ammunition. Do you want big holes or small ones? Magazines are a question of how resourceful are you when buying them (ie: do you only buy things at 4 seasons or are you actually half way resourceful?). Ammunition falls along the same lines. 4 seasons will well you 7.62x39 for $.50 a round an magazines for $45 each. If that's your only purchasing option, you probably should go with that. They probably don't stock 5.45x39 too often, yet alone mags.

Well im a fan of low recoil. Don't care about holes.

Basically its an "if i could only have 1 rifle" type of situation as well as a awb/shtf gun

Looking at a bravo rifle on gunbroker for about 1700.

AK 5.45 is running about 1200 at the moment

I have both and like my AK74 (5.45) better and the ammo is cheaper. Only downside is I believe just about all (or maybe all) 5.45 ammo is Russian surplus and who knows what new laws maybe about mail order and import of ammo in the future.

I'm starting to find this out. Have all the parts ready to go, figured I just grab a mag when I was done. WRONG.

7.62 is your best choice for availability of ammo and SHTF usefulness.
