Is there any reason why a can't obtain a SBR upper and silencer for use with any of my current lowers?

Don't worry about my home state and the can. I have that covered.

IANAL, but I think that the lower is the serialized and important part. I do not *think* that you can freely swap an SBR upper from lower to lower.

This is correct. The silencer can be moved around, the upper can only go on the engraved and registered lower.

You could only put the SBR upper on a registered SBR lower. Don't acquire the upper before you have a registered lower, constructive intent etc. etc.
