It's been 15 years since i have owned a handgun in 9 mm. I am mostly a 1911 type guy, although i do have 40 S&W and various other calibers the 45acp is my favorite. now back to my story I have owned S&W model 39, a Springfield Armory P9 and a glock 19. all pretty decent just couldn't get into the caliber back then. Was recently at my local gun shop and saw a S&W 3914 compact lady smith. (don't say it's a ladies gun) it is in excellent condition and feels right in my hand and is a reasonable price. I am not a big fan of S&W semi's, not counting there 1911's. does anyone have any knowledge of this model. dependability, accuracy can it handle +p loads is it worth the $ 425.00 price tag. Thanks in advance.

The 3913 and 3914 Ladysmith Models were arguably the best looking traditional double action pistols S&W ever made. S&W also made the 3913NL which looked exactly like the Ladysmith but lacked the inscription in addition to the regular 3913 and 3914 models. I had a 3913LS for a while and it was very reliable. There were two things I didn't like about the one I had: The grip felt like cardboard and was actually too thin for me to get a good purchase on (two mags come with the gun, one with a finger hook and the other flush with the mag well) and the gun shot low. I replaced the front sight but still had the same problem.

I think it conceals well though, and like I said, it sure is an attractive gun from my perspective. I wouldn't be put off by the Ladysmith designation. I haven't priced one lately so I don't know if it is a good deal or not.
