I gotta tell ya, at first I wasnt totally sold on the gun...but after a day of shooting it, this thing is awesome! i had two other people shoot it and they shot it just as well as i did! Purchased it at Petes in Adams and delt with Tom the owner. couldnt have asked for a nicer guy or a better deal, they even had a Smith on premiss so i got the trigger job done before I even took it home (had to pick it up the next day). My first handgun larger than 9mm, and I am HOOKED!

I am completely torn between getting another Glock 17/19 or going for the M&P, more and more good things being said about the Smiths.
Glad your enjoying it, and that is awesome you got the trigger work done before you even left the store.

yeah dirty, i wasnt much of a believer til now. same day i tested the M&P my friend brought his gen 4 RTF2 G22 which was fun but i couldnt shoot it worth a damn. I say if you already have a glock 9, why not try out the M&P? I currently have the smallest grip on it, which really makes handling the gun a breeze. not to mention it hit what i was aiming at...every time!

Congrats on your purchase. I was able to try a friend's M&P45 last fall and I was also pleasantly surprised. Enjoy your new gun.

I have shot a few of the M&P's all with trigger jobs and they are certainly good shooters. I really don't like .40's so its either another 9mm or another .45. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions... one of the benefits of getting the M&P is I can get it brand new for the cost of a used Glock. But then I have to get the trigger job done and buy some extra's for it..... I guess I just need to sit on the decision for a few more weeks until the sun shines past 6pm its hard to get week night shooting in anyhow.

If you're gonna get an M&P, get the .45... no gay cripplemags.

The base gun cost is a wash if you do your shopping right, particularly if a light rail is of little relevance to you.

heck, buy yourself a used one. good deals out there

That too, on either gun. There are a lot of wussbags that gave up on the M&P because they were too busy pissing their pants about getting a trigger job done. There are also used ones that are already done that show up from time to time.

I want to make this my next purchase and I'm wondering did you get the apex kit or a standard trigger job? Any one know if one is better than the other or what the difference is?

One of the reasons for wanting another 9mm is so I have another gun for USPSA as I have a XD in 45 already. Hmmm again decisions decisions...never can have too many .45's though.

I just got a trigger job, no fancy apex kit or anything. the fella at petes said they would absolutely do what ever i wished to the gun (apex kit, done by hand in house, anything i pleased) but he recommended having his smith do it himself, which i obliged to...needless to say i am very happy with the trigger. has to be about 4.5 lbs, smooth, no creep. I'm in the very western most portion of mass if anyone would like to try the rig out!

My Dept. switched to M&P 40's and I slowly began to like the line. The LE trigger felt ok for having a long stroke. When the 45 came out I had to have one. I've had mine for almost 2 years now. I had a trigger job done by Mike Larocca and it was good. He polished to remove the grittiness and lesson the poundage without changing springs or the sear and he gave it an audible reset. He made the Mass trigger feel like a free state trigger. I still wanted more in regards to a lighter feel so I installed the Apex kit (sear and springs). I love the gun now. It's a great shooter and has become my nightstand gun as well.

I will now call myself a M&P "fanboy"..... Ive put more rounds through my M&P 9 than any handgun Ive ever owned and it is by far the best pointing handgun I own. After getting the trigger "fixed" at Business End Customs its one of my favorite firearms.

I want to buy a 45 but the compact is not MASS OK yet.

I want a fs and a compact.

Trouble is if I do that I will have to get new holsters/ ext. as everything I have now is for my 40's.

I know the 4.5 inch barrel is compliant is the 4 inch? I know the 4 inch is what the state police are switching to.

LEO's fall under a different class.

The last time I checked the 45 Compact was not MASS approved yet for us lowly folks.

EDIT:

OK sorry folks, I just looked at the list and the M&P45c is on the list now, I must have missed it the last time I looked.

It's down on Page 10.

I purchased the full size &P45 on a whim and have been pleasantly surprised by both it's accuracy and reliability. It has been totally reliable with my reloads using 185 gr. LSEC, 185, 200 and 200gr. plated, 230 gr. FMJ and 185 and 230 gr JHP bullets with 10 shot groups at 50 ft going in to nice tight 1 1/4 to 2 inch groups. I need to have the trigger improved otherwise it's great!

IWB or Outside? For outside I use a Serpa CQC. As you can tell from the other thread, I guess I am going to shoot myself in the leg. But I like it.

Inside the waist, the Crossbreed is best I found. I usually don't use mine though as I prefer to go outside the belt. I had a Milt Sparks for my G36 and that was awesome.

Also a fan of the M&P line! Picked one up last week and can't wait to run some rounds through. I actually got mine in what they call a "range/carry kit". Came with 3 mags, mag holster, Uplula loader, and Bladetech holster. The Uplula loader is actually a pretty neat tool if loading rounds into the magazines is tricky for some people. Especially when the mags are brand new! I'm not too keen on the bladetech holster though. Fitment for the gun is perfect and I like the belt size adjustments etc. however its a pretty bulky holster if a concealed carry is preffered.

I prefer IWB for the most part. BTW, for all the M&P owners there is a site called "botach" which sells mags etc and I got a couple ten rounders for my .45 for half the price on smiths site. two mags for 43 bucks shipped!

Can anyone reccomend a bar none most comfortable all day holster for the full size m&p? Price is no object.

I would say buy a High Noon holster and belt.

I like Thumb Break Holsters, but as you will see they make many very nice holsters.

I have their Sky High Holster and their Rock Steady Belt and I love them, very well made, they will last me a life time (and more), they stand behind their stuff (if it needs repair) .

I have to say with a trigger job I prefer this to the glock 21. It just fits my hand so much better. I'm definitely going to pick one of these up in the near future!!!!!

I use the crossbreed supertuck with my M&Ps with a good belt. Don't even feel the gun, very comfotable and no printing.

Holsters and belts are specific to individual likes, needs, body type and carry style. This one has worked the best for me.

My 2 cents.
