Kydex Holster Companies

I would say I'm fairly involved in the online tactical gear community but I haven't heard anything about either of those. Veil Solutions sounds vaguely familar but I couldn't tell you anything about them.

Are you looking to buy from them? Have you not found what you are looking for from either the big national companies or some of the local vendors here on NES?

Yes I was leaning towards buying from Tactical Justice based primarily on pricing, functionality & style.

I did spend some time looking at companies I found on NES, but didn't see anything I had to have. I liked the idea of supporting a small local business, but didn't didn't have any luck. (508, buzzard's bay, others)

This will be my first holster and is mainly to have something to occasionally use (i.e. For transport to the range). Down the road I may spend more money on a leather holster.

I found both companies through the Instagram account of HK (@hecklerandkoch).

I've never heard of Tactical Justice, but I've heard of Veil and have given their holsters a decent amount of thought but ended up going a different route. I'm fairly certain he's got a decent sized social media following. (not that this means much)

I have found that Uncle Mike's makes the best Kydex holsters for the money (20 to 30 dollars) and that Blade Tech and Comp Tach make some excellent models for a little over twice as much. Of the high end two I prefer Comp Tach. Check out the web sites.

Good thing about Veil is that he's a really solid shooter, and definitely understands holsters from that perspective. I think that has value.

I don't own any of his stuff, I've just interacted with him through social media for last year or so. I get most of my stuff from 508 Holsters and Alpha Concealment primarily.

Alpha Concealment

I looked at Alpha Concealment in my early searches and they were more expensive. Now I'm wondering if I should just spend the extra $ for something that is known to be good.

I have two of these (one for Ruger SR45 and one for Kahr CW9) and like them very much. Their customer service was excellent too.

I also have one of these for the CW9 and it's a good "jack of all trades" holster. It is very versatile and good at many different setups but not excellent at any one.

I have heard good things about his hybrid holsters too but I don't own one. His name is Eric and is a good guy and his prices are pretty good on the hybrid holsters.

if its only 10-15% more I'd go with a known name...I got the clinger stinger after a bunch of recommendations and as a bonus they are about 40% less than the bigger names...food for thought

You spent hundreds of dollars (presumably) on a gun. Why cheap out now over $30? This is going to be the device that secures the weapon that you are shoving in your pants for hours every day. Quality and comfort are pretty important.

This! Same thing as a good gun belt - spending a few extra bucks for the comfort and security are well worth it in the long run.

I have found that $30 Uncle Mike's holsters perform just as well as the more expensive brands with many of my pistols.

Not trying to "cheap out" on my Vp9. With so many different companies out there of varying prices with VERY similar products, I was curious if some lesser known companies were of the same quality as the bigger ones for less.

If you go for inside the waste band . I would suggest warthog. They are kydex and leather . Cheap but great quality .

I have used alpha concealment. They run many deals bought my light bearing Hyperion for 58, I love it. Great quality.

the other company I use is buzzard bay tactical. Travis does great work, I run many of his holsters for classes.

Fair enough. I would say I have found three tiers of holsters:

1. Large volume low cost. Uncle Mike's, Focus, etc,
2. Moderate volume, high cost. Bravo Concealment, Raven Concealment, etc.
3. Low volume, moderate to high cost. There are dozens to hundreds of dudes bending kydex in their small shop or garage. Many of these are very similar. The cost driver in a lot of them seems to be colorways. Stick to plain colors and you can do pretty good for $50 to $70. If you pick one you like any aren't overwhelmed with negative reviews after some Googling, you are probably alright. It's not a particularly hard thing to make. I bet I could go on instagram, drop $50 on a random kydex piece, and it probably won't suck.

I wound up ordering an OWB (Deimos) holster from Alpha Concealement. Then I saw in the clearance link a nice looking pre made Vp9 IWB on sale so I got one of those too.

Thanks for all of the help everyone. I'll see how I Alpha and I can always come back to this thread for future firearm holsters as there seems to be a good inventory of companies listed from everyone. I'll report back once I get the order in 20-30 days.

Just placed an order for the rebel rig from hh holsters for my glock 19. Reviews seem very good, holster appears very versatile, and cheapest I could find for adding color and a light option. We'll see.
