I'm looking at picking up some sort of M4gery sometime in the near future. (once my stocks recover [rofl], or I just run out of patience)

I'm a full time lefty and the wife shoots lefthanded.

Any concerns with buying a lefty configuration vs. standard righty?

parts availability/repairs?
Costs?
Anything special that I should look out for?
The M&P15Ft looks interesting, if pricey. Do they make 'em in a left handed version?

thx

Lefty here. you dont need a lefty AR unless you gonna shoot it with a fully collapsed shock.
you do however need a brass deflector.

Here's my stag lefty upper w/NES lower:

I shoot left handed also and I have five right handed ARs with zero problems with ejected cases hitting me. That being said I am not a natural lefty as I only shoot left handed because of an eye problem. If your a natural lefty I can see where a left hand oriented AR would be benefical but other than that I don't think it really matters. I cannot speak to the collapsable stock that Mike-Mike reffered to earlier because I have not fired and AR with one of those.

Thanks all.

I should have mentioned no pictures. It's not helping me put off my purchase! I'm supposed to be saving, not drooling and looking for the credit card

Contact John at JDL if you want, he does Stag and he's very nice to deal with. Contact info in the Dealer section of this board.

+1 I have 3, and I have a collapsible on my preban. If fully collapsed I could eat a little brass but not if your use to it.

Just get a righty. I have a left handed bolt gun, get one of those if you want a lefty.

I shoot the Stag lefty to protect the last working eye as much as possible. I have the 6.8 lefty upper for hunting and the 5.56 lefty upper for plinking (or for when the SHTF). I have no other AR's, but am satisfied with the Stag product. Jack.

If you want the lefty, just buy it. I shoot lefty, all my ARs are right hand, the only mod I've made is to add an ambidextrous safety.

Just don't shoot an old style upper lefty with no brass deflector block, when you haven't noticed the clip-on deflector has broken and fallen off.

Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch.......

First AR I ever shot...in fact the first rifle I ever fired above a 22RF was like that. My buddy at the time also had the 12 guage strapped underneath it. Every single empty went right in my face and down my shirt....ouch indeed.
