A bit tedious to install, but hot damn trigger is 100x better. Also gets the stupid safety lever off the side of the frame. Very glad i dropped the $ and time on this. If you're pondering the mod, go for it.

What's the consensus out there on the LEM for USP? Is it as popular as it should be?

Reset is too long but if you can get used to it, its way better than stock.

if the stock DA pull were a bit less awful, I would be sort of inclined to setup the decocker only variant along the lines of a sig P226/229. however I find the HK DA pulls to be just pitiful. unlike a sig where i can transition DA -> SA and still easily hit a man sized target at 45 ft, most HK stock DA->SA triggers it ain't happening (at least for me).

to me the the funny thing about the LEM is that while it feels great, it's basically not too far off from a nice striker fire trigger....except a striker gun accomplishes the same feat in like one third the # of parts. so I feel like the HK LEM is kindof historically cool for this reason since this was some top notch engineering available back in the day. but nowadays the design would be overly complex. i feel the same way about the walther PPS.

anyway i used to poke fun at USP's and LEM trigger jobs and now i'm drinking some of the koolaid. oh well.

For the USP, the Wolff 12lb mainspring plus a polishing of friction areas in the system helps a lot... it makes a huge difference. You don't even have to touch sensitive things like the SA sear, just the hammer, the place the hammer rides in, the hammer strut, etc. All of these areas add a little resistance that makes the thing nasty. Sometimes there is plastic flashing inside the frame that rubs on things, too.

Would you swap out the mainspring to wolff 12lb on the V1 confirguration or the LEM too?

LEM is a different story messing with the mainspring will not reduce the trigger pull because that spring is already cocked. Most of the LEM pull is from the trigger return spring. If you want to lower your LEM trigger pull you have to lighten up the trigger return spring.

well after all my enthusiasm about the LEM trigger on the USP (see OP), I have decided i don't care for the LEM as much as i thought. major reason is it takes me forever to transition from the usual striker gun to LEM. typically i can jump between a DA/SA and a striker gun fairly quickly....probably just because i'm accustomed to the two most common configurations. then i pickup the LEM and my brain doesn't know what to make of it.

in no way am i knocking the LEM. it's a wonderful system. the problem i guess is that my little brain can't keep track of more than 2 trigger configurations. also i typically don't shoot by employing a trigger reset, but with the LEM I find i pretty much am forced to employ the reset or else the trigger travel is absurd.

so tonight i swapped the LEM parts back over the V1 configuration and will stick with V1 for now. i still need to pickup the lighter hammer spring mentioned above, which is next on my list of to-do's.

that being said, the USP is absolutely beast. i used to make fun of the USP's and call them "ancient technology" but man i was wrong.

thx everyone for the info.

I put a match trigger of a usp45ct and sent to to bill Springfield for the install and what I have back is a trigger withe the crispness and reset that rivals my 1911s.

Aside from overtravel limiter screw, does the match trigger do anything else?

easy enough i can replace it but wasnt sure the $40 was worth it.

maybe youve convinced me into it
