Listing for a friend,...

I did this once for a friend that is not a shooter or an nes member.
He had a gun that had value and did not want to take a 90% hit selling at a gun store.

Iit was an unfired, unturned Colt SAA.. the gun store gave him the.. these guns just don’t sell anymore. It’s not the 50s, people don’t want cowboy guns.. I’ll give you $250. And I am doing you a favor here..

He just asked me to help him sell it.

I would rather see it right in the post that the item for sale was not theirs instead of after I have messaged them.
don't fool yourself to think there will be arule about this, rules means policing of those rules.
police yourself, if you don't want to buy from someone who is posting for a friend, consider yourself out on that sale

but i dunno that i would list something for soemone else. have not been asked

I can't say I've seen enough of these to even think it's worthy of ranting about, but it's going to be tough for a new guy to have his first post -with no feedback- listing a WTS ad.

I've had friends ask to list stuff here for them and I'm right to the point and tell them no

I'm not getting in the middle of a gun sale, put on your big boy pants and sell it yourself

I agree. Have the friend sign up go green. It won’t be that much of a hit on the sale price.

The other thing is that this site deserves their $20 for a green membership if they are going to sell a gun here.

List it

Put their contact info

Be prepared to take the negative rating if it goes tits up.

No, for reasons listed above.

Listing for a friend = SCAM.
Not always.

I had a family friend whose son passed away. He had a bunch of guns to sell. I facilitated the sales on all of them with permission from Admin and was upfront about the situation with anyone who showed interest. Sold everything to NESrs.

If someone isn’t upfront, that’s a red flag.

Some other forums require that the person listing is the owner of the item being sold. Seems like a good policy to me.
This was in the written rules when we started NES.
But who can be bothered to read the rules?
This is exactly the problem. Most don't read or obey the rules. Things like location of the sale usually are not posted, etc.

Fxck.....when i posted shit up there most didn't read the fxcking posting never mind the rules........

I'd clearly post location most of the time TWICE in the ad, selling details and always first question was "What part of MA you in?"
Second was.....can you meet me in MY town? Fxcking retards.....GFY.

I sell down here.....EVERYONE assumes they are coming to the seller. Its an unwritten rule.

NES Classified Rant off.....

Nonsense. I list friends guns from time to time. A couple of my buddies are casual gun owners and in my circle I'm the go-to gun guy. So when they're looking to buy or sell something it's not unheard of for me to post something here or on Gunbroker for them.
In fact, I'm about to go green again just to be able to post an ad for my buddy's pistol.

Bruh! Stop scamming people (jk).

I’m always willing to help out a friend but I try not to put myself in the middle of things. If I knew someone who wanted to buy something a friend had, I would put them in touch with each other and step aside.

For an example, when I was a cop, if someone walked up and said they needed a tow truck, I’d give them the phone number of the vetted companies we used. I would of course call for them if they asked me to, but I preferred they called themselves.

Why? Because about 25% of the time it turned into some degree of hassle for me that wouldn’t have happened if they had just called the tow themselves. If I call, now I’m the point of contact. The middle man that adds no convenience to the transaction. “Hey this is mikes towing. I went to the address and the guy isn’t there.” Or “hey it’s been an hour and mikes towing hasn’t shown up yet. What’s going on?” Basically a million variations of the above that could have been handled between the driver and the tow company if I hadn’t been the one who called. It’s not like everyone doesn’t have a cell phone anyway.

I'd like to see a formula where the location of the seller is required.
Helps me with the "do I really want to travel for this?"
