This is one for the hive mind of NES. I’ve got some pics of what I believe is a 1916 Luger. Can any of you serious collectors enlighten me about this pistol? Hopefully markings are readable. I could also use an illustrated take down instruction manual or a good book on Lugers in general.

First thing: it’s a parts bin gun, there’s at least four serial numbers I can see.

So, the upper receiver was made in 1916, the rest will be much harder to know.

Hopefully you can get it cheap as such if that’s an option.

As for takedown, simply Google “Luger disassembly” and pick a video. Easy enough…it’s how I learned.

WWI 1916 DWM Luger, the markings on the side are production proof marks and the eagle is the Imperial Reich acceptance stamp.
Not seeing any other stamp date, or marking shows that this pistol was not reworked for later use. The down side to the pistol is
that it's not numbers matching, it has some good wear and I think the grips might be a replacement. Not a high value gun.

I just happened to have inherited one and I never thought to post pics. I will try to but in a separate thread as to not step on the OP's. But I'm 99% positive mine is all matching numbers (even on the mags and I think holster) but the only thing it doesn't have is the little tool that goes in the holster.

It’s a parts gun. Looks great and will probably shoot nice. I have one that my father liberated from its previous owner at Carentan in Normandy back in June 1944. Got the holster, assault badge and wound badge as a war trophy. The upper and lower were 40 digits off like for example 2340 vs 2380. So who really knows.
