I recently picked up a Smith and Wesson M&P 9 Pro C.O.R.E.

First time shooting it, with the high sights, it was dead on. Hitting POA. Trigger is what I've come to expect from M&Ps, mediocre at best. It isn't awful, unlike my earlier M&P's, doesn't have the false reset, but it is gritty. Fortunately it works well enough to not be a hindrance to shoot. I'm sure it is far better than any trigger you MA guys are forced to buy though...

Anyways, I later installed a JP Enterprises 4MOA JPoint. She works well. It cowitnesses the fixed sights, so I just dialed her in to match, and required only a very fine adjustment before it was hitting where I wanted.

As of now, I have 370 rounds fired, and 3 failures. The failures don't make me happy.

Within the first 25 rounds I had a failure. I don't recall if it was the first or second magazine shot, but it was early. I was using a factory S&W magazine.

This as you could see was a failure to feed.

It was another 300 rounds or so until I had another failure, and then I had two within 10 rounds of each other. Both of these failures were while using the ProMags.

Both were failures to extract.

Other forums have noted that the Promags had issues right out of the gate with their manufacturing process resulting in the mags exploding their guts all over the floor. Contact Promag, they've been exchanging them.

I would see if S&W internals and base plates fit the promag. Those can be found a lot easier than a whole assembled magazine.

Issue is back again. Failures to extract. Pretty sure it's the WWB ammo. It's happend another half a dozen times, only shooting WWB. It was good for a thousand plus rounds, but I don't remember if I was shooting any of that then. I know I'd been shooting a lot of federal and federal AE. I've since stopped using the WWB to see if it happens with other ammo. Not thrilled.

And the Promags are garbage. I superglued the baseplates on a couple so they wouldn't blow up, but even that didn't hold up great. They didn't blow up on me, but they were still starting to come off. Oh well.

Sure it can. My other M&P has never had an issue and I've put more rounds through it than the CORE, including of WWB. That the same gun design has issues on what and not the other is telling.

Magazines should not cause failures to extract, but you are much better off with the stock S&W mags. I think you have a bad extractor or extractor spring. Replace the parts yourself or send it back to S&W.
