M1 carbine question

Acquired this Stand. Prod. M1 carbine a while back. Has a round bolt and type 6 slide. Was curious of what caused this “peening” mark where the left bolt lug engages the receiver.
I’ve shot the gun and it functions flawlessly. I’d assume the damage was from the past and maybe by a broken bolt? Looking for opinions on the matter and if it’s any sort of issue.

That looks like normal receiver wear. The bolt lugs and wear pattern look acceptable to me. You could check headspace too as a precaution.

Thanks, I did check it with a field gauge when I bought it and everything was good with at least that one.

You can see the beginnings of it.

This is caused by the left lug of the bolt impacting the bottom of the track during unlocking. Nothing to really worry about.

For as often as I shoot my carbine, I'm not worried at all.
