Hi everybody.
Since in Italy spare parts for M1 Garand are not easy to find, yesterday I found and I immediatly withouth thinking twice bought an M1 Garand oprod to keep it as a spare part.
Once at home, I realized it was a brand new Springfield Armory "7.62 / 2" shortened oprod (it is shorter of 1/2" ) for Garand 7.62 Nato (.308" Win) and not for my M1 Garand 30-06.
Do you think it can still fit, even if shorter of 0.5" than original one, my 30-06 M1 Garand ?
Thank you.

You can install it but why put a Garand at risk. It may fire but don't chance it.
I have never heard of a .308 Garand. It might be easy to sell and or trade on any of
the internet Gun Trader type sites.

Springfield makes 308 Garands, and the US Navy converted a number of 3006 Garands to 7.62x51mm NATO. It should be easy to get what you paid for it, providing you paid a reasonable price. It is also somewhat common for folks to re barrel a 30-06 to the NATO chambering when a 30-06 gets to the end of its usable life.

Yes, I payed I think a reasonable price for it, but I am quite sure I will never find in Italy a brand new oprod original by Springfield Armory like that one as a spare part !
If you tell me it can't work at all with my 30-06 Garand, I will sell it, sigh sigh [sad]
