I know this is probably a stupid question. But how do I close my m1 garand bolt on an empty chamber without the possibility of an m1 thumb. I just dont like the idea of putting my thumb in there with the possibility of it being smashed to heck. I looked this up and all it said was to be quick basically lol. Im looking for a way that is slightly more safe.

Thank you,

joe

Hold bolt open with opposite hand... push follower... ride bolt forward until over follower... remove thumb from magwell... done.

(I hope this is right, as this is how I did it... and without instruction too!!!)

Use the blade of your hand to hold the bolt open while pushing down the follower. Its super easy.

When closing the bolt on an empty chamber you simple hold the op rod to the rear with your right hand, depress the follower with your left thumb and bring the op rod forward until it begins to override the follower. At this point, get left thumb out of the way and bring the op rod fully forward.

Real men know how to avoid 'Garand Thumb'. [smile]
