I bought a M1A a few months ago and love it. Want to make some upgrades and I want to change the rear sight to a National Match sight. Problem is I can't find an assembly in stock. I've tried googling and have mixed results/answers. What parts do I need to convert my existing sight to a NM sight? If this is something I can't do does anyone have a recommendation of a place to have it done?

Fulton has complete NM rear sights in stock.

Brownell's shows the SEI NM rear sight in stock.

If you can operate a screw driver you can install the rear sight.

The national match rear sight is a tad miss leading.
The 1/2 moa elevation is achieved by the apature.
The peep hole is off center. Rotating the peep changes your elevation by 1/2 moa. So you get as close as possible a bit high or low with the main elevation knob and adjust the peep the added 1/2 moa.
I think Smith or other m1a specialist make a true 1/2 moa sight assembly but requires a disc that goes between reciever and elevation adjusting drum? Been a while since I looked into the m1a/m14 workings. Never got around to buying one though
