I acquired a MA spec M&P 40C and against my better judgment tried to dry fire it..WTF it has a trigger pull that makes my J frames seem light. For a while I couldn't get the gun to fire, and yes I had an empty magazine in there, that is another story.... I thought there might have been a problem with the gun, but the problem was me not pulling hard enough! This thing HAS TO go to Greg Derr and fast!

So in the few hours I've had it I've found out the magazine safety is not the sear disconnect... that took a few minutes to figure out, the smallest grip insert is best for me, the tac light from my glock won't fit, only one magazine has the pinky base plate, the other 3 don't.

But overall me likes!

I've got a range day scheduled in a couple of weeks... can't wait to put 50 rounds through it.

I had the same problem with an M&P .45 I just bought. The real problem is the MA trigger return spring; it is much heavier than the stock part. Replacements are available from Speed Shooters Specialties for $2.75.

Following Mr. Burwell's post on the M&P trigger job, I polished and reshaped the firing pin safety plunger, polished the striker, and reshaped and polished the sear. The result is a crisp 4.5 lb trigger.

Replacing the trigger return spring and reshaping the firing pin safety plunger are safe, easy mods. If you screw up, replacement parts are available from S&W for short money. Altering the sear is another matter altogether. S&W doesn't sell sears, to the best of my knowledge, only sear block assemblies for about $30. To make matters worse, they will only sell the sear block assemblies to licensed gunsmiths. Perhaps this mod is best left to a gunsmith.

I have the same gun and my trigger is fine. Ruffly 5 pounds or less. No trigger work needed
