NRA 2.0: A Message from Jim Wallace

2025 NRA Board Elections – A Critical Step Forward

We’ve overcome incredible challenges to get the NRA back on track, and with NRA 2.0, we are stronger, more transparent, and more committed to serving our members than ever before. To continue this momentum, this year’s NRA Board of Directors elections are crucial for shaping the future of the organization.

As an NRA board member, I want to provide some background on how far we’ve come and where we’re headed. Last January, a historic change occurred: Wayne LaPierre resigned, closing a tumultuous chapter in the NRA's history. While his contributions to building the NRA were significant at one time, the financial and organizational turmoil of his final years caused immense damage. Under his leadership, millions were spent on legal fees, and accountability to members was severely undermined.

In response, a small but determined group of board members, including myself, came together to lay the foundation for change. We called for transparency, accountability, and a clear path forward. Initially met with resistance, we united under the vision of NRA 2.0, driven by our belief that the organization could once again serve its members with integrity and purpose.

At the 2024 Annual Meeting, members expressed their frustrations and rejected proposals that lacked proper evaluation, such as the move to relocate the NRA to Dallas. Following that meeting, our group worked tirelessly, strategizing and coordinating efforts to ensure meaningful leadership changes.

The results were transformative:

  • Bill Bachenberg was elected First Vice President.
  • Mark Vaughn became Second Vice President.
  • Most importantly, Doug Hamlin was elected Executive Vice President, ushering in a new era of leadership.
Doug immediately took action, revitalizing the organization by replacing ineffective personnel and bringing back those who had been dismissed for challenging the status quo. These bold moves signaled the start of a new chapter, one rooted in accountability and responsiveness.

In the past year, we’ve made tremendous strides. We’ve navigated the costly New York Attorney General’s lawsuit and implemented changes to ensure such challenges are handled more effectively in the future. Board meetings are now dynamic, solution-focused sessions where open debate and member-focused resolutions take center stage.

However, there is still work to be done. The 2025 Board elections offer a pivotal opportunity to solidify the progress we’ve made. By electing dedicated, independent board members who prioritize the needs of NRA members, we can build a stronger foundation for NRA 2.0.

This year, I urge every NRA member to vote. Your voice and support are essential in shaping the future of the NRA. Together, we can ensure that the organization remains a powerful advocate for our Second Amendment rights, guided by transparency, accountability, and unwavering commitment to its members.

Thank you for standing with us. With your help, NRA 2.0 will continue to grow and thrive, returning the organization to its rightful owners—the members.

Consider bullet voting ONLY for those candidates you really want to win. You can vote for Jim Wallace and concurrently negate your vote by giving another one of your votes to one of his competitors (I assume Jim is up for re-election this year - someone correct me if I am wrong). Unless I get really excited about an additional candidate will bullet vote for jim.

I'd love to see the NRA proactive publish a list of top 10 salary/benefit packages. Are there stilll $800K+ jobs at the top?

Mailed my ballot this morning, only voted for Jim.

To me this is just more "blah blah blah"... Not sure IF I'll renew when my current multi-year membership is up. I will say the chances go down every time they send me another piece of mail about how it was expiring. Or any of the other ways they try to get more money out of me. I already have a lifetime membership for SAF, which was a fraction of what the NRA life costs. I had considered getting a lifetime membership for the NRA, when it was going to end up saving me money. Now, it would be a loss on my end so F that. I'd be more inclined to send more money to GOA or FPC than NRA.

🤮. So what….the NRA is going to do the same as goal. Nothing. Great. More nothing. When was that new law passed 8/1/24. Still no real lawsuits filed. Pass

I don't need lawsuits to restore my faith in them. Just want accountability. Explanations. Transparency. And from within, not because a NY DA went after them. You think LaPierre was the only one getting handies from the NRA piggy bank? Go full fire and brimstone, and maybe something from the ashes can rise that is worth supporting.

This is why I'm holding off on giving them another penny. IME, people will say all kinds of things. Especially people in leadership positions. Sometimes they mean what they say (in a good way), other times they don't. At this point, it will take TIME before I'll trust them enough to send money. I'm sure I'm not alone in my thinking.

Plus, the magazine I get from my current membership really doesn't add any value. I get more (as well as better) information faster via other sources. Often what's in the magazine is just rehashing what I've already learned about the item.

Excellent. I'm more of a show guy. When they can show me, I'll be back to being supportive of the NRA. Till then the NRA may as well be a Che Guevera shirt, complete with closeted homosexuality.

Are you one of those guys that only watches the Patriots if they're winning the Superbowl????? Seems like what Jim is saying is: This is where we take back. This is where we shape the NRA of tomorrow.

If no one fights, you don't get your show. I guess it saves you a few hundred dollars. So there's that.

What wrong with that? A sports team is not "ours", or an "ally in a fight". It is a commercial entertainment venture selling a product. MIght as well get excited about the earnings report of Wayfair since they are a home town company.

Red flag laws
Sensitive places
Ghost guns
Assault weapons ban.
Handgun roster
Rifle roster?

It’s all unconstitutional. You don’t NEED someone to get Jammed up. You can sue over the unconstitutionality
The only thing they did was file lawsuits against the lowest hanging fruit, 18-21 year old thing. In which a strongly worded letter from a prominent lawyer would have done the same thing.

If everyone took his position, how does the NRA change??? Or are we in the "if we don't agree with it, we should burn it to the ground" mentality? Because that historically has fixed problems. LOL

No, I'm the guy that enjoys a football game and his love of the game is greater than the love of any particular team. In your analogy, the NRA would be the bookie trying to fix games. They aren't in the fight. They are like the Red Cross, enriching themselves and spending more on advertising their great non-profit than actually putting money to use.

I hope Jim means every word. I'll be watching to see what they do. As broke as I am, I still manage to send a few bucks each year to FPC and Comm2A. NRA stopped getting my money in 2019, as any sane person would have cut them off. They got my money and trust, they broke that trust, now regain that trust, then you get my money. Not that my piddly membership means anything individually.

To be perfectly honest, I'd rather see the NRA gone. It's already stained with insider dealings, rampant mismanagement of money, and general greed. I have no interest in supporting lifestyles, I have a great interest in supporting places that at least try and occasionally even accomplish. GOA has done more in 50 years than the NRA's 154. Even the FPC has been around for only 12 years and has done more than the NRA.

You want to bet on a horse that has already shown, consistently, it's not going to run for you, be my guest. But here's my question to you. Can you wear a NRA hat, shirt, patch, or adorn your vehicle with a sticker with any sense of pride? I can't. It's like a giant sign that says "I'm a sucker, take my money." And I didn't do that. The NRA did.
